▫ It is translating or rewriting the author’s ideas into your own words.
▫ What is the function of paraphrase?
▫ It will help you to recall the main ideas and specific facts of materials you read.

You can use “RAP” technique to help you paraphrase;

1. Read a paragraph.
2. Ask yourself, ‘What were the main ideas and details
of this paragraph?’
3. Put the main idea and details in your own words

You can also use these ways to paraphrase:

▫ Using a synonym or a word with a similar meaning


▫ Using different grammar
▫ Changing around the order of the sentence

When to use Simple present tense


1. to talk about regular habits or repeated actions
2. to talk about permanent situations
3. to talk about facts or generally accepted truths(for example when talking about science or
geography)
4. to give instructions and directions
5. to make negatives and questions
6. to talk about future, or known as ‘timetable schedule’ or programs or also preference to the future
