Background

Training Programme on
Agriculture has evolved into agribusiness and has become a vast and complex system that reaches far beyond the farm to
include all those who are involved in bringing food and fibre to consumers. Agri-Business refers to the various businesses
involved in food production, including farming and contract farming, supply of seeds, fertilizers, agro-chemicals, farm
machinery, wholesale and distribution, processing, marketing, and retail sales. In this context, commercialising agro-
technologies is a vital element of the technology transfer process as it pays back the capital invested on research, besides
Technology Management and stabilizing prices of agro commodities to both consumers and maximising the profit to the farmers. Hence the aspects of
technology management and business planning for entrepreneurship development in National Agricultural Research and
Business Planning for Education System (NARES) are gaining significant importance. Technology management comprising of integrated
planning, design, optimization, operation and control of technological products, processes and services. Business plan is
the blue print of any start-up that helps the budding entrepreneur to build a viable enterprise. Equipping the technology
Entrepreneurship Development in Dairying managers of the NARES with business planning skills will help to identify potential buyers of the agro-technologies besides
helping to create start-ups. It will also assist in attracting agricultural graduates and unemployed rural youth into agri/dairy
business. The main aim of the training program is to impart basic foundation to practical aspects related to technology

facilitate our farmers in creating new agro-technology based enterprises.

Course Outline
The training programme involves a wide range of pedagogical approaches, including interactive lectures, group exercises,
case studies, study visits, etc. The course content includes:

Ÿ Tools and Techniques for Entrepreneurship Guidelines for IPR Management
Development, Identification of Entrepreneurial Ÿ Commercialization of dairy technologies –SRS of
competencies ICAR, NDRI Experience
Ÿ Preparation of Business plan- Basics and case study Ÿ Visits to Successful Dairy Business Units

Course duration
The course duration is six days scheduled from 21st to 26th November 2016. The participants are requested to make their
travel plan to arrive earliest by 20th evening and to leave by 26th evening 18.00 hrs.
Eligibility
This training programme is open for technical personnel working in different ICAR institutes. The total number of
participants will be restricted to twenty (20 Nos). There is no course fee for participation for the selected participants.

TA/DA, Boarding and Lodging
The training expenditures like TA/DA, accommodation charges, food charges including breakfast, evening tea, and
dinner has to be borne by the sponsoring institute of the participants. The SRS of ICAR-NDRI will provide only session
tea, working lunch, study material and registration kit. The accommodation facility will be provided at our Guest House
on twin sharing basis. Participants are requested not to bring their family members along with them as the guest house
facility available here is limited.
