There are almost as many terms to describe types of travel as there are travel companies. A
couple of buzz words that you often hear these days are "eco-tourism" and "(1)……………………
travel". But what do they mean? The Ecotourism Society defines the first as " a responsible (2)
…………………… to natural areas which conserves the environment and (3) …………………… the
welfare of the local people". A walk through the rainforest is not eco-tourism unless that
particular walk somehow benefits that environment and the people who live there. A rafting trip
is only eco-tourism (4) …………………… it raises awareness and/or funds to help protect the
watershed. The second type of travel is often defined as "an unusual experience (5)
…………………… some level of risk and uncertainty". A canoe journey deep into the Amazon basin
with its expected (6) …………………… meets this definition. While a city tour of Paris might
have some level of uncertainty, it is not by definition adventurous.

Four hundred years have passed since William Shakespeare penned his last play. Yet his prose,
plots and characters are as (live)1 today as they were when the plays were (originality)2

pathways to learning for some of society’s most (not/advantage)6 .

Reading Passage

1- On October 9, 2012, a masked man boarded a bus filled with 20 girls on their way home
from school in the lush Swat Valley of northern Pakistan. "Who is Malala?" he asked. When
the girls unwittingly* glanced toward their 15-year-old friend, he sent a bullet through her
head.

2- When Malala Yousafzai was born, her father, a teacher and poet, refused to grieve the
way fathers in his culture did upon having daughters; instead, he wrote her into his family
tree—a distinction usually reserved for boys. Malala's valley had always been conservative;
yet at a tiny age, she disliked having to cover her face, and bristled at the fact that only boys
and men could walk freely around town.

3- However real danger only came when she was 10. Schools closed; many were bombed;
people killed and girls who dropped out were congratulated by name on a Taliban local
radio. However, her father kept his school open , but for safety, girls stopped wearing their
uniforms, which would have made them targets. And that's when Malala stood out as a
hero. She was the only one who volunteered when a BBC journalist asked to document the
terror. Under the pen name Gul Makai, she wrote detailed diary entries about her life under
the Taliban. Valiant, she also began giving speeches across Pakistan disregarding threats.

4- And then came October 9. But the brave girl recovered, thanks to 2 doctors who rushed
her to a hospital in Birmingham, England- where she lives now. In the year since her attack,
Malala has fought her way into history, becoming the world's leading advocate for educating
girls and the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize at just 17. She has also established
The Malala Fund, a project which aims to help children all over the world get their primordial
birthright. "Nothing can happen when half the population is in the Stone Age," she says.
"When women are educated, this world will change." But what’s amazing about Malala is
her forgiveness . When asked about how she would react towards her attacker, she said “ 'I
will tell him how important education is ; I even want education for your children as well.”
