4. CONSTRUCTION OF LOW VOLTAGE WITHDRAWAL CUBICLESS

4.1. GENERAL CONSTRUCTION PRINCIPLES:

The construction is of the prefabricated type with partitioning between functional

units, between functional units and busbars and separation between cable
connections; The output terminals must be protected by insulating protectors.

The low voltage switchboards shall be industrial type, metal-enclosed, factory

assembled, type tested switchboards with self-standing cabinets and withdrawable
units.

The switchboards shall be suitable for installation against the wall or for back-to- back
installation. The cabinets shall only be accessible from the front.

The bottom shall be covered with galvanized sheet steel, which is to provide with holes
for cable entry. The cable entries shall be designed in a manner such that a sealing after
cable laying is possible without any problem. Further, each cover sheet shall be
equipped with a grounding connection to the steel frame of cabinet.

The low voltage switchboards shall be suitable for indoor installation on cable cellar.
All nuts for fixing of components shall be welded on the steel structure or threads will
be cut in the steel structure. The use of loose nuts or self-cutting screws shall be
avoided. Screws, nuts and washers shall be galvanized, or cadmium plated.

Hinged front doors shall be swinged out more than 90°.

Continuity of service is ensured by the easy isolation of a defective functional unit and
the limitation of any incident to the functional unit in which it occurred.

The specified short-circuit withstand is valid for the busbars, all the switchboards and
connections.
The command or control equipment placed in the general compartment of the
switchboards or in each cubicle is perfectly accessible. The connection points, which
PROJECT REF. No. PE0393-MN-ETG-10201-00

must be connected to links external to the switchboards, are grouped together on a

terminal block.

Each functional unit in a column is designed to prevent the propagation of an arc and
flame.

On the front face of each cubicle, the service and disconnection positions of the
withdrawable part, the engaged, tripped and faulty positions of the circuit breaker,
must be perfectly marked.
The construction arrangements, the locks and the safety devices provided ensure total
operational safety for the personnel.

A "test" position is provided, allowing testing of the control and command wiring,
without a motive power supply.

Each column of the table has removable lifting and handling rings.

All screws and bolts will be zinc bichromate 8m min.

All bolting must be class 8.8 according to NFE 27 005.
All metal parts are carefully protected against corrosion of the Alu-Zinc type.

The supplier must guarantee the paint for a period of two years of service according to
cliché N ° 8 of the European scale of degrees of rusting; the final color of the paint will
be agreed upon after ordering.

4.1.1 - PARTITION FORM

5.4. CONTROL EQUIPMENT

Auxiliary protection relays, wiring terminal blocks, protection fuses are installed inside
the corresponding cubicles.
The various control equipment elements are subject to standardization specified in the
order diagrams, and which must be strictly observed by the panel manufacturer.
- The current transformers will be of the dry-insulated type with single secondary
winding:
* rated secondary current: 1A (for measurement and protection)
* precision power: 30 VA for all ammeters
* accuracy class: 1
* rated short-term withstand voltage at power frequency: 3 KV
The rated primary currents must be chosen from the preferred values of standard IEC –
185.
The protection relays will be protected against electromagnetic interference.

6. OPERATION

Each withdrawable drawer will have 4 possible positions

1 - Plugged in
• Power circuit: upstream and downstream connected
• Control circuit: plugged in
2 - Test
• Power circuit: upstream and downstream disconnected
• Control circuit: plugged in
3 - Unplugged
• Power circuit: upstream and before disconnected
• Control circuit: disconnected.
4 - Extract
• The drawer is removed from the column.
In the extracted position, the switchboard will be IP20 minimum.
PROJECT REF. No. PE0393-MN-ETG-10201-00

7. INTERCHANGEABILITY

All drawers of the same type and of the same caliber will be interchangeable with each
other.

A polarizing locking device will prevent racking-in of a drawer on a fixed part not
provided for this purpose.

However, the following possibility will be provided:

The interchangeability of a drawer of the same size but of a different caliber by simply
modifying the soaking

8. LOGIC OF MCC SWITCHBOARD POWER SUPPLY MODES

During normal operation, the entire MCC switchboard (normal part and emergency part) is
supplied by a one 630KVA transformer (in cas of 50-J-2) through the QG1 circuit breaker. The
two normal and emergency parts of the MCC are connected by the QG3 coupling circuit
breaker. In the event of an overload, the second 630KVA transformer (the 50-J-3) will be
automatically connected in parallel with 50-J-2, through the QG2 circuit breaker, to
overcome this overload. If there is no network, the QG3 coupling circuit breaker opens and
the EDG 350KVA generator set will be connected to the backed-up part through the QG4
circuit breaker. This control logic must be managed by the Micrologic 5.0P units of circuit
breakers QG1, QG2 and QG3 and the automatic switching system of the two circuit breakers
QG3 and QG4.
This logic of connecting sources to the MCC are summarized in the following two tables of
truths:

QG1 QG2 QG3 QG4
