PRECAST CONCRETE PILING

Introduction and Site Organisation (Not provisional)

A. Information on soil conditions and of the bore

holes put down over the site, together with results
of laboratory tests on samples of soil from the
bore holes may be inspected at the Engineer/
JKR's during normal office hours. Item

B. If the Tenderers wish to carry out any further tests

on the site they may do so at their own expense
after obtaining permission frm the S.O. Item

C. Piling is to be executed from excavated level over

an area which may contain existing service mains
and cables. The Tenderer to include for any
additional costs, charges or dues for piling around
services or diverting service mains and cables.
These diversions must meet with the
requirements of the approriate Authorities and the
approval of the S.O. The Contractor will be liable
for making good service mains and cables which
are raptured, fractured or damaged in any way
during the construction of the Works. Item

D. The Contractor will be responsible for the

accuracy in setting and pegging out the positions
of columns and points as shown on the Drawings
which are to be checked and approved by the
S.O. Such approval will not relieve the Contractor
of his responsibility in connection with this
accuracy. Item

E. The Contractor will only commence piling with the

consent of the S.O. The S.O reserves the right to
insist on the piling being carried out and phased in
a specific manner. Item

F. The Contractor to provide all kentledge jacks and

deflection gauges required for the tests. The jacks
and gauges to be tested by Jabatan Kerja Raya or
approving testing Authorities and certificates of
such tests and dates thereof to be supplied to the
S.O. including paying all dues. Item

A. The Contractor to include for providing supervision
and the presence of a surveyor during tests, fro
removing all kentledge and other equipment at the
conclusion of the tests and for paying all charges
in connection with test and testing of instrument Item
B. No kentledge or equipment for testing to be
removed from the site without the written approval
of the S.O. Item
C. The computations of the value of variations arising
from S.O instructions and the re-measurement of
the work termed Provisional or for which
Provisional Sums are included in the Contract, will
be based on the rates inserted in the Bills of
Quantities. Item
D. No variations will be considered for any over
driving in pile lengths, due to soil conditions
encountered, however variation will be issued for
additional lengths of piling due to any increased in
column loading and conversely for any diminution
in the lengths of piles due to any decrease in
column loading. Item
E. Tenderer are referred hereinafter to the following
items which have been described or implied on
these Documents and they are to ensure that the
cost of these items are included in the Tender
Amounts. Item
F. The provision of labours, materials, goods, piling
equipments and cost in connection therewith
including tests on materials, with pile driving and
welding plant etc., the transportation, dismantling
and removing, and all wastege on piles. Item
G. Normal wet or inclement weather (Normal to
eman average over a period of 3 years
immediately preceeding the contract period, as
defined by the Malaysian Meteorological
Department) Item
H. Idle or standing time for labour and plant Item

A. Keeping piling records and allows for the

submission of records of all piles in triplicate duly
signed by the Contractor and S.O and delivered to
the S.O as work proceeds. Item

B. Joints, splices, as may be required for the system

of piling used, other than splices for extension
piles which are measured in the Bills of
Quantities. Item

C. Replacement of defective, damaged, wrongly

aligned, misdriven fautly piles or unsuitable for
carrying load and cart away the same off the site.
All piles shall be replaced by two (2) additional pile
points at Contractor's own cost. Item

D. Re-driving or risen piles. Item

E. Driving of piles are measured per linear metre

from the point of set (i.e. the driven end of the pile)
to ground level. Item

F. Pile may be cut more than once for construction

purpose but payment shall be made for only one
cutting per pile (i.e. cutting of at cut-off-level) Item

G. Driving of extension piles to include for any

number of extensions, i.e. first, second, third or
any subsequent extensions as instructed by the
S.O. Item

H. Pile may be driven from different levels but the unit

rates inserted in the Bills of Quantities will still
apply. Item

J. Cutting off at ground level for lengths of re-use

piles. Item

K. Use of followers. Item

L. Before issue of the Certificate of Practical

Completion the Contractor to supply the S.O, with
three copies of Site Plan, prepared and signed by
the Licensed Surveyor, showing the exact location
and identification of each pile. Item

A. On completion of the piling work the Contractor

shall supply the S.O with three copies of the Site
Plan, prepared and signed by Licensed Surveyor,
showing the exact location and identification of
each pile. Item

B. The Contractor to allow for setting out work to be

executed by a Licensed Surveyor before
commencement and on completion of the piling
work. Item

C. The contractor to provide hammer with operator

hammer shall be hydraulic hammer or drop
hammer. The Contractor to submit details and
specifications for the specified hammer to the
Engineer for approval before commencement of
work, labour including handling, hoisting and
pitching of piles, equipment and everything else
necessary including transportation to site,
handling, assembling and dismantling and
removing on completion of the work. Item

D. Allow for the movement of piling plant about the

site as often as may be required and whenever
necessary including moving over cut-off piles,
moving back to re-driven extension piles already in
place, and moving to and from test piles, to
whatever position is required on site,a s directed
by the S.O. Item
