Tips for managing diabetes:
Control carbohydrate intake

Alcohol management
High intake of salt
Try to add these foods to diet:
Lean protein: low-fat dairy, skinless fish and poultry (or a smaller portion with
skin of 3-4oz.), and leaner cuts of beef.
Good carbohydrates: whole-grain foods, legumes such as lentils, peas,
beans, and sweet potatoes.
Fiber: fruits, legumes, oatmeal, vegetables, and whole grains.
Good fats: avocados, nuts/nut butters, olives, butter, and canola oil (good for
higher heat cooking).
Fruits and vegetables: vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, asparagus,
Brussels sprouts, and leafy greens.

Thanksgiving Green Beans


with Cranberries and
Hazelnuts

Servings : 8

INGREDIENTS DIRECTIONS
1. Wash hands with soap and water
1 1/4 lbs fresh green
2. In a small bowl, combine the oil,
beans (trimmed)
nuts, cranberries, salt and pepper.
2 tsp olive oil Top the green beans with the
2 1/2 tbsp chopped cranberry-nut mixture. Garnish
hazelnuts with the lemon zest.
