Title:
Climate of Pakistan

Define:
Page | 1
Climate is the long term weather pattern in a region, typically
averaged over 30 years.

Clamatic Division In Pakistan:

Pakistan lies in a temperate zone. Its climate is generally dry and hot
near the coast and along the lowland plains of the Indus River, and
becoming progressively cooler in the Northern uplands and
Himalayas.
The climate of Pakistan is divided into Four main climatic Regions

1. Highland Climate
In Pakistan, the highland climate refers to the climate of high
attitude areas such as the northern, north- western, and western
highlands

2. Lowland Climate
Low land climate includes the climate of the Indus plains in Punjab
and Sindh.

3. Arid Climate
Arid climate refers to the climate of desert areas i.e. Kharan(South-
west Balochistan), Cholistan(South-east of Punjab), Thar(South-east
of Sindh), Thal(North-east of Punjab).

4. Coastal Climate
Coastal climate refers to the climate of the areas that are located
along with the coastal strip. The coastal strip of Pakistan includes

places like the Makran coast, Karachi, Thatta, Indus Delta, Run of
Kutch etc.
Four Seasons are recognized in Pakistan
1) A cool, dry winter from December to February
2) A hot, dry spring from March through May
3) The summer rainy season occurring from June to September
4) The retreating monsoons from October to November

Environmental Issues And Their Solution In Pakistan

Currently Pakistan has many environmental issues.
1)Deforestation
Deforestation refers to the loss of forest areas that occur when
humans cut down trees to obtain wood and fuel but do not replant
them.

Solutions
The solution of this environmental issue is pretty clear: we need to
plant more trees and conserve our remaining forest. The
Government should launch more multiple tree plantation drives in
Pakistan to overcome this problem.

2) Air Pollution
Air pollution can be defined as the presence of toxic solid and liquid
particles in the air along with certain gases that are harmful to the
environment. This type of pollution is mainly cause by the burning
of fuels for transportation and production of electricity.

Solution
One of the most efficient way to deal with air pollution in Pakistan is
to plant more trees. In addition, concerned authorities must take
action to reduce the number of diesel vehicles that emit excessive
carbon in the air. We should ban the common practice of burning of
leaves and garbage along with other materials to protect the
environment

3)Water Pollution
Water pollution is caused when toxic substances such as chemicals,
waste and certain microorganisms contaminate the body of water
and converting it harmful for human use and consumption

Solution
One of the best way to counter this problem in Pakistan is to set up a
proper sewage treatment and management system. The agriculture
sector of the country also need to reduce its use of pesticides and
fertilizers.

4)Land Pollution
Land pollution is the destruction of earth’s land surfaces, often
directly or indirectly as a result or human activities and their misuse
of land resources.

Solution
We can minimize the land pollution by adopting a zero-waste
lifestyle and reducing our use of plastic. Other ways to counter this
environmental problem of Pakistan include recycling and reusing

things, buying organic products and avoid using harsh materials
such as industrial cleaners etc.

5)Global Warming
Global warming refers to the long term warming of planet due to
pollution. It causes the depletion of ozone layer due to which
dangerous rays come from the sun. Pakistan is the one of the biggest
victims of global warming in the world.

Solution
If we want to protect the ozone layer from depleting at such a quick
pace and reduce the size of carbon footprint on the earth, we should
consider adopting a sustainable and minimal-waste lifestyle.
