‭he owner of the house is sitting in the living room watching‬

TV when he feels something watching him from upstairs. He turns‬

around, staring up into the darkness upstairs.‬‭

Slow pan from the owner's uneasy face to the darkened upstairs)‬
‭
[Pause], trying to see if anything is up there. Doorbell rings‬
‭
abruptly, scaring the owner.‬
‭

‭wner walks toward the door, the house dark. He opens the door‬

and greets MC.‬
‭

Owner: “Hey, how’s it going?”‬

‭

‭C:‬‭
M (Looks at things next to him then he turns his head once‬
the door opens and then smiles towards the owner.)‬‭
‭ “Oh, hey.‬
I’m doing good!”‬
‭

Owner: “That’s great. Here, come on in.”‬

‭

MC goes inside the house and takes off his shoes inside.‬
‭

Scene Two:‬
‭

Owner: “Ima’ give you a quick tour before I get out of here.”‬
‭

MC: “Sure.”‬
‭

Owner walks toward the kitchen, MC following behind him.‬

‭

‭wner: “So, this is the kitchen, nothing too fancy.”‬‭

‭ “That’s the pantry. I put a couple of‬
snacks in there so feel free to take some anytime.”‬

MC: “Thanks.”‬

‭wner: “Yeah.”‬‭

“Plain old stove if you‬
want to cook something up and here are the plates when you need‬
‭
it.”‬

Owner walks into the dining table area.‬

‭wner: “Alright, so obviously here is the dining table, but I‬

prefer you eat here so you can keep the house clean. But if you‬

do decide to eat elsewhere, just make sure you clean it up,‬

alright?”‬
‭

MC: “Mhm.”‬
‭

‭wner:‬‭
O (Pointing to the door leading to the backyard)‬‭
“There’s‬
a patio and backyard out there if you ever wanna’ be out.”‬
‭

MC: “OK.”‬
‭

Owner: “Here’s the... the living room.”‬

‭

MC: “If you don’t mind, where’s the bedroom at?”‬

O (Owner turns to MC and looks sternly)‬‭
“I was just about‬
to get to that.”‬
‭

MC: “Oh, my bad I jus—”‬

‭

Owner: “Come here.”‬

‭

MC follows Owner to the door of the bedroom downstairs.‬

‭wner:‬‭
O (Looking at MC in the eyes, intensely)‬‭
“Listen. You‬
sleep here‬‭
‭ (pointing to the bedroom)‬‭
at night.”‬

‭C:‬‭
M (Looks skeptical and strangely at Owner)‬‭
“Um, is there‬
something wron—”‬
‭

‭wner: “JUST LISTEN!”‬‭

O (Gulps and strokes his hair back, visibly‬
stressed)‬‭
‭ “Sorry... sorry about that, but you need to just‬
listen. I prefer you sleep here because there are some things‬
‭
you don’t want to— nevermind. But just sleep here, OK?”‬
‭

‭C: “Yeah, sure.”‬‭

M (Slightly nodding head)‬‭
“I’ll- I’ll sleep‬
here.”‬
‭

‭wner:‬‭
O (Nodding head)‬‭
“Good good, very good. Ok. Let’s- let’s‬
go upstairs.”‬
‭
