TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

BIOTEX UV
BIOTEX UV absorbs UV light effectively and is used as light
fastness enhancer for different textiles exposed to sunlight
for a long time.

FEATURES

• Absorbs a high percentage of the UV-light in the range of 300 ~ 400nm, stops the
photochemical degradation of dyestuffs for polyester and gives higher light
fastness to polyester textile goods exposed to sunlight for a long time.

• Sublimation of BIOTEX UV may occur at above 180℃ and it is needed curing at

the lower temperature.

• Stable in HT process with foamless and does not cause filter deposits.

• Has particle sizes in below 1.0 ㎛ range and shows good penetration properties.

• Does not cause scum problem and dyeing machine staining.

• Unique color with pale yellow. It would be recommended a color matching with
dyestuffs used and BIOTEX UV.

• Moderately resistant against water hardness, acids, alkalis, and electrolytes.

• Separated according to time. It would be recommended to shake before using.

PROPERTIES
Appearance : Pale yellow viscous dispersion

Composition : Benzotriazole derivatives

Ionic Nature : Anionic

Solubility : Easily soluble in water

Compatibility : Compatible with anionic and non-ionic products,

should not be used with cationic products.

APPLICATION
1. PET dyeing process

BIOTEX UV can be handled in the dye bath together with disperse dyes, in a range of
1.5 ~ 3.0% o.w.f. and application temperature 110 ~ 135℃.

Example

Levelling agent 1 ~ 2g/l

BIOTEX UV 3.0% o.w.f.

Dyestuffs X% o.w.f.

Acetic Acid 1 ~ 2g/l

Levelling agent and BIOTEX UV are added to the dye bath and stir sufficiently. The
disperse dyestuffs are then added to the bath and set the desired pH level with Acetic
acid or pH adjusting agent. The temperature gradually raised to the desired dyeing
temperature (130 ~ 135℃), maintained there as required, followed by the cooling phase
and draining.

2. Nylon dyeing process

BIOTEX UV can be handled in the dye bath together with acid, reactive, or disperse
dyes, in a range of 2.0 ~ 4.0% o.w.f. and application temperature about 95 ~ 100℃.

Example

Levelling agent 1 ~ 2g/l

BIOTEX UV 3.0% o.w.f.

Dyestuffs X% o.w.f.

pH sliding agent 1 ~ 2g/l

Levelling agent and BIOTEX UV are added to the dye bath and stir sufficiently. The
dyestuffs and pH sliding agent are then added to the bath. The temperature gradually
raised to the desired dyeing temperature, maintained there as required, followed by the
cooling phase, and draining.

STORAGE

BIOTEX UV is relatively stable when stored in normal climatic conditions. It can be

separated during storage. However, it could be easily dispersed by stirring before using.
It is not advisable to store below 0℃. However, after freezing, it will return to the normal
liquid form, if allowed to warm back to ambient room temperature naturally. Likewise,
prolonged storage at temperature up to 40℃ has no detrimental effects.
