Objective:
Students will use their imagination and descriptive language to write a creative story or poem about a tree.
Classwork:
Introduction (10 minutes):
1. Begin the lesson by showing students picture books featuring trees. Discuss the different types of trees they
see and the parts of a tree (trunk, branches, leaves).
2. Engage students in a discussion about trees, asking questions such as:
- What do trees look like?
- What kinds of animals live in trees?
- How do trees change throughout the seasons?
Guided Imagery Activity (10 minutes):
1. Have students close their eyes and imagine they are standing in front of a majestic tree.
2. Guide them through a sensory visualization, asking them to imagine what the tree looks like, how it feels to
touch, and what sounds they hear around them.
3. Encourage students to pay attention to their thoughts and feelings as they imagine the scene.
Creative Writing Activity (15 minutes):
1. Provide each student with writing paper and pencils.
2. Instruct students to use their imagination to write a short story or poem about a tree. Encourage them to
include descriptive language and sensory details.
3. Remind students to use the descriptive words and phrases generated during the group discussion.
4. Circulate the classroom to provide assistance and encouragement as students write.

Objective:
Students will describe their favourite place to go on a rainy day and the fun activities they do there through
drawing and storytelling.
Lesson Plan:
Introduction (10 minutes):
1. Begin the lesson by discussing rainy days with the class. Ask students how they feel when it rains and what
they like to do indoors.
2. Show images or photos depicting rainy day scenes to help students visualize different settings.
Brainstorming (10 minutes):
1. Lead a brainstorming session with the class to generate ideas for places to go and activities to do on a rainy
day. Encourage students to think of cosy indoor places they enjoy, such as their homes, libraries, or classrooms.
2. Discuss fun activities students can do indoors, such as reading books, playing games, or doing art projects.
Drawing Activity (15 minutes):
1. Give each student a piece of paper and crayons/markers.
2. Ask students to draw a picture of their favourite place to go on a rainy day and the fun activities they do
there.
3. Encourage students to include details in their drawings, such as raindrops falling outside or cosy blankets and
pillows.
Storytelling (20 minutes):
1. Once students have finished their drawings, gather them in a circle and have each student share their picture
with the class.
2. Ask students to describe their favourite place and the activities they do there on a rainy day. Encourage them
to use descriptive language and express their feelings.
3. Write keywords or phrases on chart paper or the whiteboard to help students remember their ideas.
Writing Activity (15 minutes):
1. Provide each student with a sentence starter, such as "My favourite place to go on a rainy day is..." or "On a
rainy day, I like to..."
2. Ask students to complete the sentence and illustrate their response underneath.
3. Assist students as needed with spelling and writing their sentences.
