Autodesk Revit Content Library – Templates and Families
1. Where to find Revit Content Libraries
1.1. You can view the template folder in File Explorer
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2024\.
• Enable Hidden Items in File Explorer to see the ProgramData folder: View
hidden files and folders in Windows.
1.2. The default Revit File paths can be set to this location to easily load families
and templates.
• Open Revit and navigate and select the File Tab on the Top Ribbon, then select
Options.

• On the Options Window – Select File Locations.
• Here you can add the desired file paths for Templates by using the Green Plus + icon (1).
You can also reorder by using the arrows (2).
• The default path for Families can be edited by browsing to your desired file location, see
1.1. (3)
• Once done, Select OK
• If the default templates do not exist, check if there is missing library content.
o Confirm you can view the template folder in File
Explorer C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 20XX\
o Go through the steps in the article: Templates and family library not installed or
missing in Revit or Revit LT to get the content library installed.

2. How to load Revit Templates
• When opening Revit and selection Model > New (1) the New Project Pop up will appear (2).
• Here you can select your desired starting Template or browse to the desired folder location to
find your template.
3. How to download Revit Content
The below information and links represent the Content Packs provided for Revit 2024 in all
supported languages and locales.
Content Packs for Revit 2024 can be found here.
To apply the content files:
1. Download the desired content pack to a local location.
2. Launch the content pack executable from the saved local location.
3. Revit Online Help File
Revit has a built-in help file which can be accessed as depicted below:
• In the title bar of the Revit window, click (Help).
• For context-sensitive Help:
o In a dialog, click or the Help button or link, or press F1.
o Move the cursor over a tool on the ribbon. When its tooltip displays, press F1.
Note: If you turn off tooltips, context-sensitive Help (F1) for ribbon tools is also turned
off. If you want context-sensitive Help to be available, use the Options dialog to set
Tooltip assistance to Minimal.

To access online Help and other resources, in the title bar of the Revit window, click the arrow
to the right of (Help), and select an option.
You can change settings to view Help in your preferred language, and to specify your preferred web
browser, as follows.
