POSITION PAPER
Does Photography Change the Way We Live In?

Photography has become a huge part of our everyday lives. With cell phones that can take
pictures and cameras that everyone can afford, we take photos of almost everything - our food, our
selfies, our pets, events we go to, places we visit, and more. Photography allows us to capture
moments and memories that we can look back on later. But does it change how we live our lives? I
believe photography does change the way we live in some important ways.

One way photography changes how we live is that it makes us more aware of the world
around us. When you have a camera ready, you start looking at things differently - trying to get the
perfect angle, lighting, or framing. You notice little details, interesting textures, and beautiful scenery
that you might have missed before. Photography encourages us to really observe and appreciate our
surroundings.

Photography also affects our experiences and how we act in certain situations. Have you
ever gone to a concert and spent more time trying to record videos than watching the show with your
own eyes? Or visited a famous landmark and missed being truly present because you were so focused
on taking a good photo? Sometimes we get so caught up in capturing the moment that we don't fully
immerse ourselves in the moment itself. Photography has the power to distract us from fully
experiencing life.

However, photography also allows us to re-live experiences over and over through the
photos and videos we've taken. It gives us a window back into those special memories and moments
forever. The photos we take become treasured keepsakes that we can share with loved ones, post
online, and look back on fondly for the rest of our lives. In this way, photography enhances how we
appreciate and remember our life experiences.

Additionally, photography has created huge opportunities for self-expression, creativity,

careers, and community. Many people use photography as an art form or small business. Photography
websites, clubs, contests, and conferences bring together people with this shared passion from all over
the world. Photography has enriched the lives of both professionals and hobbyists in so many ways.

In conclusion, while there are potential downsides to our society's obsession with
recording everything through photography, the overall impact has been incredibly positive.
Photography deepens our appreciation for the visual world, provides lasting memories, enables self-
expression and connection, and has created new opportunities in many realms of life. For all these
reasons, photography has changed the way we live and experience our world today.
