16-Point 24 VDC Output Module
The digital output module receives commands from the 4716
24VDC OUTPUT
Processor Module in order to switch ON or OFF various field 16 OP
actuators and elements like relays, contactors, indicating
lamps and solenoid valves. The module provides 24 VDC

On the front side, red LEDs indicate individual output status. GROUP 4 ERROR
LED glows if the Processor puts ON corresponding output. I/O
label is provided on the front side for I/O identification. Under
the front door, a removable 20-pin terminal block is provided Q .0

Module wiring
This is source type of output module. Two 24VDC load supply common points (terminal
numbers 1 and 18), each for group of consecutive eight outputs are provided. Connect
output devices (load less than 1.5 Amps) to output points as shown in figure 2 with
other terminals of output devices connected to ground of load supply. The module
requires 24 VDC control supply for its operation which should be connected in between
terminals 19 and 20. If this supply is not healthy, Yellow LED 'NO 24 V SUPPLY' glows.
The module control supply and load supply may be different but their supply grounds
should be made common. If module control supply and load supply is not connected
and output is switched ON, it is indicated by respective red LED. But corresponding on
board MOSFET device is not switched ON and hence connected field device is not
switched ON.

Four yellow LEDs are provided at the top for error indications. One indication is
provided per group of four outputs. If any single output in a group is put ON by the
processor, corresponding error LED glows
If load connected to output point is less than 300 mA or
If total load current of a group exceeds permissible limit.

Precautions
Ensure that the total load in a group at any time does not exceed 4 Amps
and the total load on a module at any time does not exceed 8 Amp.
To protect output devices from voltage surges generated by the inductive
loads, freewheeling diodes are required to be put across the loads
directly. Failure to put diode may damage the output devices on the
module and or create EMI interference problems. Suggested device is
1N4007 or IN5408.
User should take care of external supplies by providing appropriate fuse,
MCB protections where ever required. Similarly user can insert
appropriate safety control interlocks to ensure safe working of the module
in the application.
The application of AC voltage to any terminal of the module may damage
individual / group outputs or the entire module permanently.

User safety guidelines
This manual provides information for the use of I/O Module. The manual has been written to
be used by trained and competent personnel. The definition of such a person or persons is as
follows:
a) DESIGN ENGINEER Any engineer who is responsible for the planning, design, and
construction of automatic equipment using the product associated with this manual
should be of a competent nature, trained and qualified to the local and national standards
required to fulfill the role.. These engineers should be fully aware of all the aspects of safety
with regards to automated equipment.
b) COMMISSIONING/SERVICE ENGINEER. Any engineer who is responsible for the
commissioning, use and maintenance of automatic equipment using the product
associated with this manual should be of a competent nature, trained and qualified to the
local and national standards required to fulfill the role. This includes being completely
familiar with all the associated documentation for the said system. Maintenance to be
carried out in accordance to the established safety practices.
c) OPERATORS. The personnel using the completed equipment should be trained to use
the product in a safe and coordinated manner in compliance to established safety
practices. They should be also familiar with documentation, which is relevant to the actual
operation of the equipment.
Note : The term-completed equipment refers to a third party constructed device, which
contains or uses the product associated with this manual.
Warning !
The specifications of product and contents of manual are subject to change without
notice. This manual has been prepared taking utmost care; the performance of the
final equipment depends on many other parameters beyond any control of Messung
Systems. Messung systems does not assume any responsibility/liability of any
damage to life or property that might result due to any malfunction due to design,
use, of the equipment using this component.
