The line graph illustrates the number of people visiting social networking sites compared to

two Internet searching tools in the USA from January 2004 to June 2006.
Overall, the trend in the popularity of social networking sites and two search engines in the
USA is upward, with Yahoo having the most visitors following by Google and other Social Networks
throughout the period.
Yahoo increased in the number of users, with above one hundred millions in January 2004, it
fluctuated during the whole period and hit the lowest point of under one hundred millions users in
January 2005. After that, it reached a peak of nearly 120 millions visitors and finished in June 2006.
Google, the second most popular witnessed a similar pattern as Yahoo. Starting at over 60 millions
visitors, Google peaked at around 80 millions users and ended in Jun 2006.
The top 10 Social Networks started at a welllower number of visitors, 40 millions visitors
compared to two Internet search engines and slightly increased to around 50 millions visitors. After
this point, it declined to the beginning number of users, which is also its lowest mark in January 2005
and experienced a significant rise from 40 millions visitors to over 80 millions visitors in Jun 2006.
