Content: Identifying the Inquiry and Stating the Problem


Time Allotment: 1:50 hours (October 9-12, 2023)

Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of:
1. The range of research topics in the area of inquiry.

Performance Standard
The learner is able to formulate clearly the statement of research problem.
Learning Competency
Designs a research useful in daily life (CS_RS12-Id-e-1).

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to:

● Identify the characteristics of a well-written research title.


● Construct a research title.

Let the students answer the question “Where should we get our research problems?
and How do we identify them”?
c. Activity

1. Form a group of four to five students.


2. Think of three topics to write about that are related to your field of specialization.
3. You may read books, use the internet, or read previous research studies or journal
articles to help you choose the appropriate research topics.
4. Formulate as many questions as you can.
5. Explain the reasons for your choices. Make sure to support your explanation with
appropriate sources.
d. Abstraction

After the activity, the students reflect on their responses about the lesson. The ability to choose
a topic is an essential skill to start a good research paper. It is important that you pick out a
relevant and valuable topic and maximize the resources that you have.

Steps in Identifying the Area of Inquiry:

Areas of inquiry are explored in the early phase of writing the research. Identifying
the areas of inquiry is a vital stage in research writing. It follows certain steps that will
help you get an overview of what the research will be about and determine its
purpose in a specific area of knowledge. Mastering the skill of finding a good
research topic is very helpful not just in the nature of quantitative research but also
in qualitative research as well.
e. Application

Jason wants to know the best marketing strategy for their school. He sees the internet
and the use of flyers as specific contexts related to marketing strategy. How are the
internet and the use of flyers related to marketing strategy?
f. Assessment

Quick Check: Determine an appropriate topic based on the given question. Briefly
explain why you have chosen that topic.
