Control Engineering
1. Valve positioner in detail.
2. Square root extractor.
# In level transmitter P is directly proportional to H (height) while in flow transmitter Q is
directly proportional to square root of delta P. So, the relationship between Q and Delta P is non-
linear. To get a linear signal we use square root extractor. This is the reason we use square root
extractor only for Flow Transmitters and not for Temperature and Pressure transmitters.

Psc quesn of emergency gen as usual one but only this is you shd make your own scinerio if ship in port at anchor, gen
starts or not, if not start trouble shooting, still doesn't start and u don't have spares then speak of reporting to company
and request for dispensation where class will give you CoC to get pass the detention if emergency generator doesn't start
- Rui says showing records is not enough ship will surely detain
EDG

The EDG usually will be tested weekly for offload and monthly for on load. Show him the testing history to approve it
was working fine. If your ship is entering some special requirement ports, you may need to carry out an on-load test 24
hrs before arrival. The testing history should be recorded in the engine room logbook, PMS, and IAS. After that, test one
more time. If it still cannot come on load in automatically. Then will investigate and fix it before departure.
For the second chance on-load test, try using the method different from your previous one. My experience, some ships
are equipped with blackout switch to make ship crew easily do EDG on-load test. For the second chance test, change the
ship's load to MSB. Inform bridge to let them set up their radar and everything. Black out the ESB by disconnect the
ACB from MSB. After the black out of ESB if the EDG still can not cut in automatically and onload. which means there
are really something damage. The ship needs to fix it before departure.
As a PSC inspector, he should accept the evidence which is provide from ship. For safety wise and critical equipment, he
should get approval your safety equipment are working fine, especially comes to EDG. So if you cannot approve your
EDG is runing without issue. You should not be allowed for departure.

######5 years of class survey for cross head main bearing crankpin bearing- he is expecting preparation, surveying part
- he is asking about the reason for opening the bearings , which one can be open first either of forward and aft reason,
what surveyor check on the inspection in detail (especially he doesn't want the procedure of opening and closing bearing
he want surveyor come on board and what he will check.)
