Happiness is something that everyone strives for; it is a concept that has no precise
definition. It can be the magnificent or the delicate little things. It varies according to each
person's life perspective and sight. Many viewers have been motivated by Chris Gardner, a hard-
working, and caring man but struggles with everything in his life from Thomas Jefferson's movie
"The pursuit of Happyness," which depicts the urge to pursue happiness by upholding precious
core values.
Firstly, it comes to Individualism. From the beginning of the movie, we can see that Chris
is different from others. He never succumbs to adversity, refuses to surrender to fate. He stated
that you only really failed when you thought you failed. He is always filled with faith and hopes
to protect his dream. He said that everyone around him was so happy and why he could not. As a
result, we can find that the opportunity is always in his own hands. Through the many details of
his interview, one can see that the interviewers appreciate his efforts and initiative. Chris said
that if they gave him a question, he didn't know the answer to he would let them know the fact
that he didn't, but he would try to find the answer and there would be an answer. He felt sorry for
his wife, son, and most of all, himself for not trying hard enough to conquer happiness. At a
certain aspect, this is probably the story of Chris's own search for the right letter I in "happiness"
from the y in "happyness" that he saw at his son's kindergarten or it can be the way that he can
rise from the bottom to the very top of society.
Moreover, the movie also brings us the value of achievement and success. It can be seen
that Chris placed a lot of emphasis on his achievements, especially above others. From childhood
to becoming a father, he always strives for the top position with the goal of achieving wealth,
prestige and especially happiness. He thought that success was solely determined by his own
efforts, rather than by fate or luck. He has a dream, he holds on to it, and he pursues it. There was
a scene that Chris advised his son to protect the dream although people discouraged him only due
to the fact that they had been unsuccessful themselves.
In conclusion, this movie gives everyone motivation to protect their dreams and pursue
their happiness. Due to the core values above, we can make our own way to achieve success like
Chis can.
