Ratio of Elderly Who Would Most Likely to Live in Retirement Homes

Eight in 10 older Filipinos consider the idea of having homes for the aged in the Philippines,
although only two in 10 would want to live in them.
Therefore, approximately 80% of older Filipinos consider the idea of having homes for the
aged in the Philippines, while only 20% would want to live in them.

(These were some of the findings of the research “Aging in the Philippines: Findings from the
2007 Philippine Study on Aging (PSOA)” by Grace T. Cruz, Josefina N. Natividad, Melissa L.
Gonzales, and Yasuhiko Saito.)

No. of Members in Art Association of Bacolod-Negros

With the chosen client the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AAB) one of the branches of Art
Association of the Philippines (AAP) that have 65 visual artist members.

Number of Retirees in Bacolod Negros Base on Philippine Retirement Authority

Figures from the PRA showed that Western Visayas hosts only one percent, or about 500, of the
53,000 foreign retiree-holders of Special Resident Retirement Visa (SRRV).

Slightly more than half (55%) of all older people have trouble performing the Nagi measures of
physical functioning.
(PSOA, 2007)
For the results of self-reported disease status, the diseases were grouped into those that are readily
apparent by their symptoms alone (Group 1) and those that require medical diagnosis (Group 2).
Arthritis/neuralgia/rheumatism is the most prevalent (54%) of all diseases.

Computation for Number of Occupancy per Type of Living

Assisted Living
55% (Percentage of Elderly having trouble with functional health) of 165 (Total number of
expected Occupants)
55% x 165 = 90.75 or 91 Expected Occupants for Assisted Living

Independent Living
Total expected Occupants - expected occupants for Assisted Living
165 - 91 = 74 occupants for independent living

For Dormitory type

34.1% of 74 = 25 expected occupants for Dormitory

For Rowhouse
42.9% of 74 = 32 expected occupants for Rowhouse

For Villa
23% of 74 = 17 expected occupants for Villa

TOTAL
25 + 32 + 17 = 92 occupants for Independent Living

Number of Dormitory units (4 Occupants per unit)

25 (expected Occupants) ÷ 4 = 6 Dormitory Units

Number of Rowhouses Units (1 Occupant per unit)

32 (expected occupants) = 32 housing units **adjusted to 33 for design symmetry

Number of Villas (1 Occupant per unit)

17 (expected occupants) = 17 Housing Units **adjusted to 18 for design symmetry
Min. Area Allocation

For Dormitory
60 sqm per unit X 33 units = 1920 sqm

For Rowhouses
50 sqm per unit (medium cost) x 40 units = 2000 sqm

For Villa
120 sqm per unit (open market) x 22 units = 2640 sqm

For Condominium
18 sqm per unit (open market) x 113 units = 2034 sqm

TOTAL
1920 + 2000 + 2640 + 2034 = 8594 sq.m

Saleable Lot Allocation Ratio

Saleable: 60,155.1508 sqm x 70% = 42,108.60 sqm

Economic Status: 20.6% (High Class), 52.5% (Middle Class), & 31.4% (Low Class)

Socialized & Low-Cost Allocation: 31.41% = 13,226.31 sqm

Medium Cost Allocation: 52.5% = 22,107.01 sqm

Open Market Allocation: 20.6% = 8,674.37 sqm

No. of Units

Socialize & Low-Cost Allocation: 13,226.31 / 2 = 6,613.15

Socialize: 6,613.15 / 28 = 236.18

Low-Cost: 6,613.15 / 36 = 186.69

Medium Cost Allocation: 22,107.01 sqm / 100 sqm = 221.07
