Artist
The "last Bagobo weaver" was Salinta Monon, a Filipino
textile artist who received the National Living Treasures
Award in 1998. Born on December 12, 1920, in Bituag,
Bansalan, she became well-known for her Bagobo-
Tagabawa textiles, especially the crocodile binuwaya, after
learning to weave at the age of twelve. June 4, 2009 was
Monon's death date. In her community, Monon and her sister
are the only two Bagobo weavers. She has established a
strong reputation for her work and the complexity of her
designs, and she has a good eye for traditional patterns.
She solely dresses traditionally on exceptional occasions and
wants to educate new wives how to weave and construct a
building dedicated to weaving.

Bagobo-Tagabawa textiles and was known as the "last Bagobo weaver".
