c. Presenting
examples/instances
of the new lesson

Who is he?
Is his kind still living up until now??
What do you think happened to their remains?
Will we be able to trace/know what happened to the dinosaurs through their remains?
Do you think the remains of an organism will give us an information about evolution of life on
earth?

EXPLORE: LET’S WATCH & LEARN!

d. Discussing new
concepts and The teacher will show short videos of evidence from fossil records on the TV for further
practicing new skills #1
learning.
LECTURE ME UP!
Evidence from Fossil Records

 Fossils are traces of organism that lived in the past and were preserved
by natural process or catastrophic events.
 They can be remains of organisms which included bones, shells, teeth
and also feces embedded in rocks, peat, resin, and ice.

 Fossils are examples of evidences that paleontologist used in studying

evolution (species change over time).
 Paleontologist is a person who studies fossils.
 Most fossils were commonly found in sedimentary rocks and they were
from the hard parts of the organism like woody

e. Discussing new concepts

and practicing new skills #2

Types of Fossils:
 Impression – are shallow external molds left by animal or plant tissues
with little or no organic materials present.
 Compression – is the other side with more organic material.

Determining the Age of Fossils:

 Relative Dating- is a method used to determine the age of the rocks by
comparing them with the rocks in the other layer.
 Carbon Dating- is used to tell the age of organic materials.

f. Developing mastery (leads

to Formative Assessment 3) EXPLAIN Activity: MATCH ME UP!

Activity: MS. QUESTION & ANSWER!

g. Finding practical
applications of concepts
and skills in daily living
1. Ask students the following questions:
A. Why are evidences important in the study of the origin of life?
B. How can fossil records serve as an evidence for evolution?

ELABORATE Activity: FILL ME IN!

Complete the statement by underlining the correct word.
