DAILY JOURNAL LOG

Date: September 11, 2023

Persons Involved: USPF Social Work Intern and Teacher Mina.

What Transpired:

The first thing I did when I arrived in Asilo, I logged in or punched in our

daily time record (DTR). Then ma’am Cecil one of the social workers in Asilo told

us to go to the toddler’s room or Angel’s Home. As we entered the room Teacher

Mina the assigned teacher for toddlers taught the kids and we social work interns

helped to teach the kids, Teacher Mina guided us on what would be the right

thing to do with the assigned kids we had. After that teacher Mina left us since we

the interns were complete, and we were tasked to continue the study session.

Next, we gathered the kids in the playroom after they studied and we social work

interns were also inside to play with them, observing the kids, talking to them,

and hugging them. We were tasked to stay with kids for 4 hours, from 8 am to 12

noon. Lastly In the Afternoon, after we had lunch, I slept for about ten minutes

since Sir Ariel told us that we had a supervision meeting with Sr. Marylou and the

2 social workers, Ma’am Cecil and Sir Ariel. For about almost 3 hours.

Reflection/Insights/KSA

What I have learned about knowledge, skills and attitude (KSA) in Asilo

was that, during the supervision meeting with Sr. Marylou and the 2 social

workers, as we gathered and discussed all of them are rich by heart they were

talking about their experiences and gave us tips as a social worker. They have
really that knowledge and expertise of their profession. When I stayed with the

toddlers and preschoolers. Honestly, it was hard for me to interact since I don’t

like kids who are hard-headed, but I tried my very best to communicate with

them. So what I did was to play with them so that they communicate with me and

what I like the most is I am challenged.

As I listened to them, I was inspired and motivated to continue my

profession, supposed to be I will not enroll this year because of financial

problems, and I am proud to say I am glad and blessed that I am working with

the scholars here in Asilo.

What Transpired:

As I arrived in Asilo, I went directly to the Angels Home/ toddlers room and

had our study session. And I chose to teach the remaining two boys. After the

study session, we gathered the kids to the playroom and played with them trying

to get their attention for easy to communicate with them. In the afternoon, after

we had lunch, we encoded around 10-12 pages of the updated case study report

of James and Lovely. I was assigned to encode Lovely’s case study. During this

afternoon the whole staff of the agency had their monthly meeting, so while I was

encoding the updated case study, I was also assigned to answer telephone calls

in the SSD office.

I honestly arrived late in Asilo because I had to go to the city hall to claim

my allowance since I am a scholar in Cebu City.
