Responsibilities of Regional Mission-I.

The Mission-I activities of Western Region are represented by a variety of activities under
Mission-IA and IB. These include Specialized Thematic Mapping (STM), Geochemical
Mapping, Geophysical Mapping (M-IA) and application of Remote Sensing in Geological
studies (M-IB). The following roles and responsibilities are to be continuously performed
for these activities. 1. To hold technical sessions/meetings with the State Units/Division
officers for ideating/generating technical projects long before the project proposal dates
fixed by National PSS. 2. To create a 'Regional level Project Bank' wherein the projects will
exist as generalized ideas/areas/technical objective and broad achievement parameters
culling essentially from previous experiences/ data bank / Govt. Policies/ Departmental
Long and Short-term plans, modem conceptual inputs/ technology infusion and resource
availability. 3. To issue advisories, on behalf of the HOD, Region, to the State Units/
Division Heads to take up the specified items from their 'Project Bank' for the ensuing field
season. 4. To scrutinize and recommend approval of Mission-I FS items. 5. To carry out
qualitative monitoring. 6. To offer technical advice to the Project team for improvement of
the technical output. To note and caution project team in case of qualitative or quantitative
shortfalls. 7. To arrange field visit of experts from RM, to offer guidance and advice, to the
Planning, field party. 8. To hold interactions with respective Regional Chemical
programming Divisions/Laboratories regarding chemical analysis of samples from different projects
and under Mission-I domain. 9. To defend the respective domain's project work, presentations
co-ordination along with the project team in the Term Review Meetings, etc. 10. FSP report scrutiny and

Mission-I, reports, through HOD, within seven days of the circulation due date, to the Quality
GSI, WR Management Cell (QMC), GSI for external peer review. 12. To be responsible for,
compilation, generation and circulation of final NGCM Reports, this will be accepted by
HOD of the Region. The Regional Geochemical Division to function under the RMH I and
undertake preparation of final NGCM Reports. 13. To be responsible for preparing sector
specific reports, prepare answers to the parliamentary queries etc. in the domain of
Mission-I of the Region for the HOD of the Region. 14. To be responsible for holding
theme based technical workshops/ seminars etc. in the Region, sanctioned by the HOD.
15. To hold interaction with State agencies, PSUs and other organizations at State level
under its Region. 16. To attend SGPB meetings for furthering Region-State co ordination
and CGPB Committee meetings, which fall in their domain. RMs to assist the respective
CGPB Committee Heads formulate status papers, technical reports etc. in their respective
technical domain. 17. To assess and prepare regular training need documents and submit
to their respective National Missions. 18. Preparation and submission of final GCM reports
up to FS: 2014-15 and GPM (MoD guidelines 2016 to be followed) and STM reports up to
FS: 2016-17 are to be handed over to National Mission-III, CHQ in searchable format for
uploading in OCBIS. 19. Status maps of STM, GCM and GPM are to be corrected/
prepared up to FS 2018-19 proposals. 20. Supply of digitized Mission-IA Reports [STM
and NGPM Reports upto FS: 2016-17 (keeping in view MoD guidelines) and NGCM
Reports upto FS: 2014-15] to NMH-III, WR.
