PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE - BSC

1.0 OBJECTIVE
1.1 To describe a procedure for cleaning and preventive maintenance of Bio Safety Cabinate.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure is applicable for cleaning and preventive maintenance of Bio Safety Cabinate.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 The Maintenance operator performs the cleaning and preventive maintenance of BSC as per this SOP.
3.2 The Maintenance Officer/Executive shall monitor the activity and record the same.
3.3 Head of Maintenance department shall ensure the compliance of this SOP.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1 Head Engineering
5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Disinfecting internal working parts with 70% alcohol or adequate before and after use daily.
5.2 Checking the airflow Conditions on the display and with a vaneometer or
airflow meter placed in front of the BSC Daily [before usage).
5.3 Switching on the built-in UV lamp after use daily.
5.4 Air sampling on agar dishes during and after use weekly
5.5 Visually examining airflow using an airflow tester monthly.
5.6 Disinfecting and cleaning external parts with a general cleaner monthly.
5.7 Disinfecting and cleaning internal parts with a general cleaner after removing the working surface quarterly
5.8 Internal point checking to ensure uniformity of the interior airflow quarterly
5.9 Calibrating and certifying each BSC as per standard EN12469/NSF annually.
5.10 Replacing HEPA filters [with recalibration and recertification), As needed according to the engineers report
6.0 TRAINING
6.1 Trainer — Head- Engineering.
6.2 trainee — All Concern Person.
6.3 Period — One hour or as per required.
7.0 DISTRIBUION
7.1 One set of master copy & controlled copy submitted the quality assurance department.
