Introduction: Individual Factors in Teenage Business

Topic Sentence:

 Different individual factors, effects of individual factors in

entrepreneurship, factors affecting entrepreneurship

My Sources:

1. Taylor, D, & Thorpe, R. (2004). Entrepreneurial learning: A process of co-

participation. Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, 11(2),

203–211.

2. Krueger, NF, Jr, Reilly, MD, & Carsrud, AL. (2000). Competing models of

entrepreneurial intentions. Journal of Business Venturing, 15(5), 411–432.

the impact of owner experience on firm performance. Journal of Small

Business Management, 30(4), 72–88.

Body:

Source 1: Reasons why individuals become entrepreneurs have identified

previous exposure to business, role models and networks as important.

Individuals who have family members or close friends who are entrepreneurs

tend to be more likely to start their own business than those individuals who have
not experienced the same level of exposure to entrepreneurship (Taylor &

Thorpe, 2004).

Source 2: According to Krueger et al. (2000), entrepreneurial activity can be

predicted more accurately by studying ‘intention’ rather than ‘personality traits’,

‘demographic characteristics’ or ‘situational factors’.

Source 3: The theory of planned behavior contends that intentions are a

function of three sets of factors: attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived

behavioral control. Given that the decision to found a firm can be regarded as

reasoned action or planned behavior, the relationship between intentions and

actual behavior should be fairly strong (Ajzen, 1991; Sheppard et al. 1988).

Body: Similarities in (comparing) two or more of the articles:

 Krueger and Ajzen, Sheppard agreed that intentions are more accurate in

predicting different entrepreneurial movements rather than reasoned

actions and behaviors.

Body: Differences in (contrasting) two or more of the articles:

 Krueger said that intentions are nothing to do with personality traits but

Ajzen, Sheppard said that intentions are function of attitudes and

behavior.
Conclusion: Summarizing

 This literature review was conducted to fully understand the different

analyze different studies and perspectives about the topic.

Why is the topic of this literature review important and/or what should be the next

step of this study?

 The topic of this literature is very significant because this will serve as the

evidences of the study and will be the basis of the study. The next step to

this study is the methodology and the data gathering.
