HAPAG NG PAG-ASA (painting) by Joey Velasco

Representational Art Nonrepresentational Art

Subject: Jesus Christ and the 12 Children

1. The painting reveals a story of greater hunger than a plate of rice could satisfy. It also shows that
what these children are starved for is love.
2. The painting depicts the story of poor homeless children, despite the despair and poverty that
surrounds them, still carrying on their lives with Jesus as their only hope.
3. These poor people hold on to the truth that God will never abandon them, even if the walls of the
earth crumble down.
4. The painting shows that God is not neglecting these children and that he will dine with them no
matter who they are and what are their state in life
5. The painting also reflects the harsh reality that bluntly crosses our paths each day. That these
children are victims of the poverty stricken majority who never had enough chances.
