II. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

1. Carefully examine the Spoliarium by Juan Luna in 1884. Write five ideas, descriptions or
interpretations from the artwork (10 points).

1. It shows how the world is devoid of life.

2. Since Juan Luna painted the Roman Coliseum as the setting, it depicts that the two
people being dragged are corpses and the people around them are Romans who clearly
does not show any sorrow.
3. The painting shows 3 things; the corpses, those who shows no sorrow, and those that
mourns—which are as if one of the corpses' parents.
4. The painting shows the cruelty of the Spanish Colonization.

curiosity. However, everyone of us hides our real faces behind a green apple, not
allowing anyone to peek. We are bound of both curiosity and secrecy.

This is called “Puraw nga Bato”, a rock that was at the top of a hill in our barangay. It was just
recently when it was discovered and became popular that even people from other barrios tend
to visit it. The good thing in here is that, you have to experience mountain climbing before you
