Activity:
1. What is your own view of the stylistics before reading this module?
Before reading this module, I have some basic understanding of the ways in which language is
used to convey meaning and create effects, but I am not familiar with the specific terminology or
analytical techniques used in the field. Stylistic for me before reading the module is a kind of
study that analyzes style of text or give text style.
2. What insight have you imbibed from this module that changed your perspective about
stylistics?
From this module I have gained an insight that studying stylistics can provide understanding into
how language works in various contexts, including literature, advertising and everyday
communication. Another is the importance of context in understanding language use. And that
also, through analyzing the literary and other texts, we are able to gain a deeper understanding of
the ways in which language can be used to create meaning, evoke emotions and shape
perceptions.
3. Do you find this subject easy or difficult to teach? Why? Why not?
Stylistics is a challenging subject to teach because it requires students to develop a range of
analytical skills and a deep understanding of the nuances of language use. To be effective in
teaching stylistics, it is important to have a strong background in linguistics, literary analysis and
cultural studies, as well as an ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.
Another challenge in teaching stylistics is keeping up with new developments in the field.
Stylistics is a dynamic and evolving area of study, with new approaches and techniques
emerging all the time. It is important to stay abreast of the developments and incorporate them
into the curriculum in order to provide students with the most up-to-date and relevant
knowledge.
4. What must you do to motivate yourself to immerse in the study of stylistics?
To motivate myself to immerse in the study of stylistics, it is important for me to understand the
value and relevance of the subject. Stylistics provides insights into the ways in which language is
used to create meaning and convey messages, and it can enhance my ability to read, write, and
communicate effectively. To engage with the subject, I will start by setting specific goals for
what I want to achieve, such as improving my critical reading skills, deepening my
understanding of literary analysis, or developing my own writing style. Finally, I can stay
motivated by actively engaging with the subject, asking questions, participating in class
discussions, and seeking out additional resources, such as books, articles, or online tutorials, to
deepen my understanding and enhance my skills.
