A. Content Standard The learners have an understanding:

o On realizing the rigors of crafting one's speech.

o Proficiently deliver various speeches using the principles of effective speech
delivery.

Show a video of someone delivering a speech.
Question:
1. What have you noticed with the way the person delivers his speech?
2. Describe his actions, his voice, his expression.
4. Class discussion
Questions:
1. What are the types of speech according to delivery? How do these differ from each
other?
2. Where does each of the types of speech be useful?
5. Generalization
1. Reading from a Manuscript – when the speaker delivers the speech while reading from a
piece of paper or from a teleprompter.
2. Memorized Speech – a memorized speech is also prepared in advance and one in which
the speaker does not use any notes.
3. Impromptu Speech – one for which there is little to no preparation. There is often not a
warning even that the person may be asked to speak.
4. Extemporaneous Speech – the speaker prepared notes in advance that help trigger their
memory of what the planned to say.
B. Performance Divide the students into 4 groups and assign each group a type of speech to deliver.

C. Evaluation Identify the type of speech in each situation.
1. A contestant answering the final question.
2. The president of the Philippines giving the state of the nation address.
3. An applicant answering the questions in a job interview.
4. A speaker answering the questions of the audience after a symposium.
5. An actor delivering his speech after winning the best actor in an awards show.
D. Assignment Look for examples of speeches according to delivery. 2 examples for each type. Write it on
a piece of yellow pad paper.
