A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American


literature and other text types serve as means of valuing other
people; also, how to use processing information strategies, different
forms of adverbs and conditionals for him/her to play an active
part in a Chamber Theatre presentation.

B. Performance Standards The learner proficiently plays an active part in a Chamber Theatre
presentation through employing effective verbal and non- verbal
strategies based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery,
Facial Expressions, Style and Body Movements or Gestures.

his/her understanding of British-American Literature, including
Philippine Literature and other text types for a deeper appreciation.

Task 1. PEEL THE CABBAGE

Directions: The students will pass around a paper cabbage


containing gibberish words. Upon passing the cabbage, music will
play and once the music stops, whoever holds the cabbage will have
to peel and guess the gibberish word.

(The student will peel the cabbage and guess the gibberish word)

WHAT IS IT?

Communicative style - It is a speech style which portrays how a


language is characterized in terms of degree of formality.

Types of Communicative Style

1. Frozen
• Rarely or never changes.
• Used in a very formal setting.
• It has a fixed and static language.

Examples:
• Holy mass

• Marriage ceremonies

• National anthem

2. Intimate
• used in an informal situation.
• used by people with very close relationships.
• used by couples, family, and best friends.
• uses words at a minimum.

Examples:
• future plans

• family sharing ideas

• sharing secrets

3. Formal
• straightforward speeches
• they are used in speaking to large groups and are impersonal in
nature.
Examples:
• opening remarks

• president’s delivery of SONA

• giving of announcements

4. Casual
• Relaxed and unconcerned
• We use it when we talk to our friends and peers.
• There is free and easy participation from both the speaker and
listener.

3. Consultative
• Is used in semi-formal communication.
• Sentences tend to be longer and spontaneous.

assigned to each communicative style, and they will make a conversation
based on the given scenario that shows the three types of communicative
styles.

Group 1: SONG

- Create or think of a song that shows intimacy about your


loved ones. It could be for your family, best friends, or very
close relationships.

Group 2: INTERVIEW

- Imagine that you have a check-up with your doctor because


you are sick. Have a conversation that shows consultation
between the patient and doctor.
