a) Content Standards The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/ her
understanding of British-American Literature, including Philippine Literature and
other texts types for a deeper appreciation of Philippine Culture and those of other
countries.
b) Performance Standards The learner applies communicative styles like casual, intimate, Consultative,
conversational, and frozen for various situations.
c) Most Essential Learning Employ the appropriate communicative styles for various situations (intimate,
Competencies (MELC) casual, conversational, consultative, frozen)
d) Specific Learning In this lesson, the students should be able to:
Objectives: 1. distinguish types of speech style according to social situations;
2. determine the vocabulary or jargons expected of a communicative style;
3. give appropriate communicative style for various situations; and
illustrate the value of appropriate speech style in demonstrating respect to others.

1. Create a conversation for the two men in the first picture. Each man tells
the other how he would like to be addressed.
2. For the second picture, create a conversation for the two women who are
making a small talk about their preparation prior their trip.
3. For the third picture, create a conversation for the people who are asking
and answering questions about their hiking experiences on Mount Polis.

speech context?
 Now that you have learned about speech context, what do think
should a speaker do to be able to make appropriate speeches in
particular situations?
 What are the important things to observe in speech style
indifferent situations?

3. Role Playing/Acting Skills/Communication Skills:


The students will have draw lots on the Five Types of Speech Styles and
act it out. They will be given 5 minutes to conceptualize and practice, and
5 minutes to present.
