Writing Part 1: Person of the year

The choice of a person of the year is an important tradition in our town. We

honor the effort and the daily work of our citizen.
On the one hand, this years choice could be a local politician. First and
foremost, because they represent our town and make important decisions
concerning our living. Just last month our local politician was chosen into the
council of states where he fights for our ideals and rules running this country.
Furthermore, it is very important to honor their work to encourage young
people to also become a politician and representing our town. Otherwise the
decisions are made by people of other towns.
On the other hand, we could also choose a teacher since they educate our
children, our future. It’s our teachers that help our children to figure out, what
they want to become, what way they should go. In this way it’s our teachers
that educate our future local politicians, vendors, doctors or farmers. In
addition, the work that our teacher deliver on a daily basis is important to
everyone in this town. Our kids spend everyday in this institution. It’s important
that we honor their work supporting our kids in raising them and help them to
reach their goals.
In a nutshell it can be said that both, a local politician as well as a teacher
would earn the titel: «Person of the year». They both play an important role for
this town. Nevertheless we chose the teacher since they carry for this towns
future.
