PETA

PETA, or also known as the Philippine Educational Theater Association was founded in
1967 by Cecile-Guidote Alvarez. It was credited for creating issue-based performances
that highlights the delivery of truth through different dramatical forms. It produced Rizal’s
two novels which is a prime example of the issues faced by Filipinos during those times.

2. Repertory Philippines

Repertory Philippines was a theater association formed by five (5) Filipino actors in
1987. The goal of the company was to create a venue for the people in the
entertainment industry to work and earn a living. It has created more than 300 plays,
some of which are adaptations of the works of Shakespeare.

3. TRUMPETS

TRUMPETS is the first gospel theater group in Asia and in the Philippines. It is one of
the leasing theater groups, known for multimedia workshops. Its goal is to not only
provide entertainment but help transform lives that highlight important values through
religion-based productions.

4. Tanghalang Pilipino

Established in 1987, Tanghalang Pilipino is a resident drama company of the Culture


Center of the Philippines. It envisions raising the country’s theater to heights of
professional and artistic prosperity. One of the group’s main goals is to challenge every
Filipino to remain committed to his or her convictions.

5. New Voice Company

Established in 1994 by an actress named Monique Wilson. The company is known for
staging innovative and socially provocative theater plays and has made mark in most
theatrical groups in the country. It deals with contemporary and social issues.

6. Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group

Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group was created by stage director and producer,
Bobby Garcia in 1998. The group is responsible for staging one of the most sought out
musical plays entitled Carrie. Other plays produced by the ATEG are Rock of Ages,
Saturday Night Fever, and more.
