Project Report: Solar Based EV charging System

Abstract
In a world where renewable energy sources are becoming increasingly important, the
integration of solar and wind power generation systems is a significant step towards sustainable
energy production. This project aims to harness the power of both the sun and the wind to
generate electricity. We utilized an 18-watt solar panel with solar tracking capabilities and a
custom-designed windmill to produce electrical power. This report presents the methodology,
design, and results of our dual power generation project.

1. Introduction
The world's increasing energy demands and environmental concerns have led to a growing
interest in renewable energy sources. Solar and wind energy are two of the most promising
options for generating clean electricity. This project combines the use of an 18-watt solar panel
with solar tracking capabilities and a custom-designed windmill to harness both solar and wind
energy for power generation.

2. Objectives
The main objectives of this project are as follows:

To generate electricity using solar energy through an 18-watt solar panel with solar tracking.
To generate electricity using wind energy with a custom-designed windmill.
To integrate and store the electricity generated from both sources.
3. Methodology
3.1 Solar Power Generation
We utilized a high-efficiency 18-watt solar panel with solar tracking capabilities to maximize the
energy harvested from the sun. The solar tracking system was designed to automatically orient
the solar panel towards the sun to optimize energy capture throughout the day. The panel was
connected to a charge controller and a battery bank to store the generated electricity.

3.2 Wind Power Generation

For wind power generation, we designed a custom windmill with blades designed to capture
wind energy efficiently. The windmill was equipped with a gear system to increase power
generation as wind pressure and velocity increased. The windmill's output was connected to the
same battery bank used for solar power storage.

4. Design and Implementation

4.1 Solar Panel System
The solar panel was mounted on a dual-axis solar tracking system that allowed it to follow the
sun's movement throughout the day. The output of the solar panel was connected to a charge
controller, which regulated the voltage and current to ensure efficient battery charging. The
battery bank consisted of deep cycle batteries to store excess energy for later use.

4.2 Windmill Design

The windmill was designed with three aerodynamically efficient blades attached to a rotor. The
rotor was connected to a gear system to increase power output. The windmill was positioned at
an optimal height to capture wind energy effectively. The electrical output of the windmill was
connected to the same battery bank used for solar power storage.

5. Results
The power generation results varied based on weather conditions and wind velocity. On
average, the system generated:

Solar Power: 18 watts (on a clear sunny day with optimal tracking).
Wind Power: Variable voltage output ranging from 1 volt to 18 volts, depending on wind
pressure and velocity.
The battery bank efficiently stored the generated electricity from both sources, making it
available for use even when the sun was not shining, or the wind was not blowing.

6. Conclusion
The dual power generation system successfully harnessed solar and wind energy to generate
electricity. The solar panel, with its tracking system, and the custom-designed windmill provided
a reliable source of clean energy. This project demonstrates the potential for combining multiple
renewable energy sources to increase energy production and reduce reliance on non-renewable
resources.

7. Future Enhancements
In the future, we plan to improve the system's efficiency and power output by refining the
windmill design and implementing more advanced solar tracking technology. Additionally, we will
explore options for grid integration and further energy storage solutions to make the system
more practical for wider applications.
