a. Find 𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑡 (𝑡) voltage in terms of 𝑣1 (𝑡) and 𝑣2 (𝑡).

b. For 𝑣1 (𝑡) = 2 V and 𝑣2 (𝑡) = 1 V , find 𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑡 (𝑡).
c. For 𝑣1 (𝑡) = 2sin(2𝜋1000𝑡) V and 𝑣2 (𝑡) = 1 sin(2𝜋2000𝑡) V , find 𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑡 (𝑡).
d. Verify your calculations for option b with simulation. Make sure that both the schematic
you draw and the result are visible. Compare the result you found in option b with the
simulation result.
e. Verify your calculations for option c with simulation. Make sure that both the schematic
you draw and the result are visible. Take care to determine the simulation step size
appropriately in order to create an output signal of at least 4 wavelengths and at most
10 wavelengths and to create enough points that the output does not appear piecewise
linear. Use Vsin source. Compare the simulation result with the result you found in
option c.

2. (35p) Below is a circuit with a transistor operating under DC conditions and the equivalent
circuit model of the transistor.
a. Substitute this equivalent circuit model into the circuit and redraw the circuit.
b. Show step by step how to obtain the loop and addition equations parametrically.
c. Element values: R1=R2=1 k, R3=10 k, R4=1 k, =100, v5=10 V, v7=0.7 V. Calculate
all loop currents.
d. Calculate the powers of the v5 voltage source and the BJT transistor element.
e. Using the given BJT Equivalent Circuit Model, simulate the circuit with the ORCAD
program. Give the simulation results in the homework and compare them with the
theoretical results.
