SIMPLE CASE PRESENTATION

A. Conflict/Problem/Incident

In San Felipe Elementary School where I am assigned, there were three teachers in
Grade 2. We practiced departmentalized classes where each teacher handled different
sections in each class depending on the subject being taught. There was a Class Program and
Teachers’ Program to be followed where the time, the subject and teacher assigned in each
class was there in the class program. There was also a Master Teacher assigned to monitor
classes in each grade level. Teacher X in grade 2 was caught by grade 1 teachers that she has
no class in the first period in the afternoon. They found out too that her class was fused to
the other section.

B. What triggered the incident?

As expected, Teachers from grade 1 informed the assigned Master Teacher in grade
2. Teachers added that Teacher X was doing it for how many days already because when grade
1 teachers pass by in her classroom, Teacher X is just sitting on her table and holding cellphone
and they don’t even ask why Teacher X has no class and fused her pupils to other section.

C. What went wrong?

The Master Teacher assigned to Grade 2 talked to the School Principal and reported
the case of Teacher X. After their discussion, Master Teacher called the attention of Teacher
X by sending message in the Group Chat of the School saying to report in the office. Teacher
X then explained that three of them teachers in Grade 2 agreed that they will fuse the 3
sections into 2 sections to have a vacant period and they are doing it already for a week. The
School Head confronted Teacher X that they have to follow religiously the Class and Teachers’
Program. The Master Teacher added too that they have to inform the School Head if they
have plans for their classes if they think learners may improve the learning performance of
the learners not only looking at their own comfort.
D. Applied Human Resource Management

The School Head and the Master Teacher greatly influence to the working status of
the teachers. Since one of the role of the School Principal as Human Resource Management
is to manage the school as a whole. It is his/her extent of the power to make legal decisions
and judgments specially in the teachers’ load of teaching. In the side of the Master Teacher,
being assigned as the monitor in the teaching performance and learners performance, it is
good that she calls the attention of the teacher and discussed the matter to the School
Principal as well.

E. Insights

For me, being a manager of pupils learning, we should follow what was assigned task
for us. We will not only think of our own comfort to make our work easy. We should be
transparent and include of course our boss being the manager of the school. We should
inform the Master teacher who is assigned to us for some improvements. It is really a good
thing to an organization to have a staff meeting to discuss also personal concerns to make the
assigned task to us teachers to our school principal.

F. Recommendations

In terms of Human Resource Management, as discussed last meeting, it is important

to have a relationship between the teachers and the school head to have a smooth operation
of the school. It is recommended to have staff meetings regularly, to listen to teachers
complains in their work loads and if possible discuss also the revisions of class and teachers’
programs.
