BULK DENSİTY OF COARSE AGGREGATES

In this experiment, we first put the aggregates

LOOSE COMPACTED into the mold. the result we read from this value
is 5,3125 kg . we subtracted this value from the
Mass of the weight of the mold and obtain mass of
3,3364
mold (kg) 3,3364 kg aggregate is1,9761 kg . then we went to the
kg
m1 second stage of the experiment. we pressed the
Mass of the aggregates with a stick. the result we read from
aggregate this value is 6,0355 kg . . we subtracted this
5,3125
plus 6,0355 kg
kg value from the weight of the mold and obtain
mold (kg)
m2 mass of aggregate is2,6991 kg .
Mass of the 𝑚2 −𝑚1
aggregate 1,9761 𝑝𝑏 = using this equation, we
V

(kg) kg obtained bulk density. bulk density of loose
m2 - m1 aggregates is 988,05 kg /m3 . and bulk density
Volume (m3) 0,002 of compressed aggregates is 1349,55 kg/m3 .
0,002 m4
V m3
Bulk Density As can be seen, the bulk density of
(kg/m3) 988,05 1349,55 compressed aggregates is higher than the bulk
ρbulk density of loose aggregates. the biggest
reason for this is that we compress it with the
help of a stick and increase its mass.
CLASSIFY THE AGGREGATES
Lightweight aggregates <= 1100 kg/m3
Normalweight aggregates 1200-1700 kg/m3
Heavyweight aggregates >= 1700 kg/m3
According to the information given, the bulk density of loose aggregates has the feature
of lightweight aggregate and the bulk density of the compressed aggregates has the
normalweight aggregates feature .

AGGREGATES
The composition of stones such as sand, gravel crushed stones used in concrete
production is called aggregate.
They are divided into three in terms of structure. Sand and crushed sand is called fine
agrera. Sand and sand mixtures that can pass through sieves with a diameter of 4 mm
are in the fine aggregate class. Pebbles and crushed stones are classified as coarse
aggregates. Crushed stones and pebbles that cannot pass through a 4 mm sieve and
are on the sieve are called coarse aggregates. The most important feature of using
aggregates in concrete is that their aggregates reflect their properties on concrete.
Aggregates are divided into two: natural aggregates, artificial aggregates.

Properties of Aggregates:
 they should not contain weak grains.
 The size of the grains should not be wide and long.
 They should contain pressure and wear resistant grains.
 The grains should be hard and free of voids.
 They should not contain substances that can damage the concrete.
 They should not react harmfully with cement.
