The science of psychology has found that whatever we mentally pay attention to –
whether in a conscious or unconscious manner – we are that, and we end up
becoming more like that. That’s why, it is advocated that if we can create a mental
attitude that is filled with hope, positivity and which anticipates good and
favourable outcomes, we will make considerable progress. That’s why there is a
widespread belief that if you think positively, all your problems will be magically
sorted out.

Part – B Marks : 30

(A) Read the passage given below and answer the following questions:
(Q. No. 21-25) Marks: 5x2 = 10
The name of the new threat to the world is ‘Omicron’, the corona virus variant
with deadly mutations that first manifested itself in southern Africa. It is no
coincidence that African countries are among those that remain at the bottom of
the vaccination coverage. And that appears to be a problem. The looming threat
of Omicron ravaging the world seems to be the consequence of the fault in
distribution of vaccines. With vaccine distribution heavily tipping in favour of
developed and developing countries, poor countries have been left in the lurch.
Omicron seems to be reminding the vaccine-rich countries that if under-developed
countries do not have adequate vaccine coverage, they are not safe as well, no
matter how well and widely they have vaccinated their own people. The lesson
the latest corona virus variant has for the world is that no one is safe until all are
safe. No wonder, Omicron is making its footprints in the vaccine dose-rich West
from Europe to Australia triggering a panic reaction in the form of fresh travel
bans and lockdowns. This also exposes a chink in the armour of the developed
nations. All those multi-billion dollars of investment by large pharmaceutical
companies have gone into development of various vaccines. The old saying of
‘prevention is better than cure’ undoubtedly holds true.

21. What is the name of the latest corona virus variant?

Ans: The name of the new threat to the world is ‘Omicron’.

22.Which countries are at the bottom of the vaccination coverage and why?
Ans: African countries are at the bottom of vaccination coverage because of
inequal distribution of vaccines.

23.What lesson can we learn from the latest corona virus variant?
Ans: No one is safe until all are safe.

24.What seems to be the main reason for the threat of the latest corona virus
variant?
Ans: The inequal vaccine distribution pushed the poor countries at the
bottom.

31. Make a presis of the following passage in about one third of its length:
Marks : 10
The three basic human needs are bread, cloth and house but considering today's
social environment and the use of mobiles so much it seems that now there are
not three but four basic human needs of bread, cloth, house and mobile. Because
today, whether people feel the need for something else or not, from my point of
view, the mobile is also considered as their basic need. Be it traders, employed,
farmers, students, laborers, rickshaw pullers, even beggars nowadays have
mobiles. Of course, some of these sections are in dire need of mobile phones
nowadays, but young children need to think so much about mobile and use it so
much. The lonely and cherished children of many homes insist on giving them a
mobile phone and many parents give the mobile phone to their child so that he
does not bother them while doing any work. In such an environment, wrong
consequences can also come, such as the recent game called 'Blue Whale
Challenge' in which many children have committed suicide.

(i) Rising crime against Women.
(ii) Child Labour.

Rising crime against Women

India is a traditional male-dominated country where women have to face
various violence in the society from the ancient time. As the world is leading in
the technological improvement, advancement of material prosperity, etc; the rate
of unnatural sex and violence with women is also on the way. Rapes and brutal
murders have been so common now-a-days. Other violence are like harassment,
assault, and chain-snatching, etc have been involved in the daily routine in the
modern Indian society. Violence against women has grown to a great extent in
the free India. Dowry deaths, murder, bride burning, etc are giving rise to other
violence in the society. Simultaneous increase in violence against women is
hindering the social, economical, political, and cultural progress in the country.

The continuous practice of dowry system in the society proves that the
violence against women can never be end. It is a complex phenomenon covering
several dimensions of violence. It has reduces the status of young girls in the
society as well as lowers their dignity. At the time of marriage, if a bride do not
bring adequate dowry with her, she would really be at high risk of maltreatment
after the marriage. Thousands of girls are bring victims of this social devil on
daily basis.

Some common lines for social issues:

1. India is one of the most vulnerable countries when it comes to the number
and amounts of crimes committed against their women.

Child Labour

The Child Labour has been an international issue and it is spoiling the
future of many kids who aspires to be a really great person someday. It
completely shattering the dreams of those children. They don’t deserve to be
treated like this. And the first responsibility in the hands of their parents. If they
have given them birth it is their responsibility to nurture their child and offer him
a secured place to live.

Second government is also responsible for this shameful act like child
Labour. We are living in 21st century; we still have to debate in such issues like
child Labour. Why government is not taking serious steps in resolving this
heinous criminal issue. The law in Indian says no child can be forced to work
below the age of 14 years. But still there so many children who have to work
really hard to earn the two times meal. The cause for child labour is
unemployment.

The organisations do not want to spend more money on a full-time adult

worker so they keep a child to work on daily wage basis so that they have to pay
less for similar work. As human beings we have become so selfish that we cannot
even spare a small child! As a result future of our country is getting destroyed.

It is never too late to mend :

Human life is a tale of errors and follies. Nobody is infallible. We all commit
errors and mistakes out of ignorance or inexperience. Man learns by experience,
and in the process of acquiring experience man often stumbles and falls down.
An intelligent and aspiring man would learn from his mistakes and failings.
Every mistake is a lesson, a living sermon. All errors and mistakes should be
corrected. No mistake should be repeated a second time. It is never too late to
mend. This is the surest way osf getting success and happiness in life. If we just
keep on brooding over our mistakes without trying to mend them, we shat make

Write a letter advising him to take all precautions against the spike of
Covid-19 cases in Delhi. (150 Words) Marks :10

Examination Hall
XYZ
5th December 2021

Dear Brother
I received your letter yesterday morning. We are hale and hearty here and hope
you are also fit and fine in Delhi. I am pleased to know that your studies are going
very well.
In your letter you told us about the recent spike of covid-19 cases in Delhi. We
are very anxious for you. You know this is a deadly virus that spreads like a forest
fire. This virus mainly transmits when you come in contact with the carrier or
infected object. To top it all, I learn that even the vaccine is ineffective on the
new variant of this virus. Dear brother, I hope you understand well the old maxim
'Prevention is better than cure'. So, the best way to keep yourself safe and secure
is to avoid going at public places, to use face masks and gloves and to keep a safe
distance.
Mummy misses you very much. She is very concerned. I console her saying that
your hostel is a foolproof building. Anyway, take care.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

With lots of love
