Buckingham Pi Theorem
• How to generate the nondimensional parameters, i.e., the π’s. There
are several methods that have been developed for this purpose, but the
most popular (and simplest) method is the “method of repeating
variables”, given by Edgar Buckingham. This theorem states that
"If there are n variables (independent and dependent variables) in a
physical phenomenon and if these variables contain m fundamental
dimensions (M, L, T), then the variables are arranged into (n - m)
dimensionless terms. Each term is called π -term".
• How to use this method? Let's learn with example!
