Variables on which the Resistance of a Solid Conductor Depends:

The resistance of a conductor to the electric current passing through it

is called electrical resistance. As a result of current passing through a
resistor, electrical energy turns into heat energy. It is indicated by the
symbol R, its SI unit is Ω (ohm).

The resistance of a part of the conductor per unit length and unit cross-
section to the passage of current is called resistivity. Resistance is
denoted by the symbol ρ (ro). The SI unit is Ohm. meters. (Ω.m)
Resistance is a distinctive feature for materials.

Resistivity

The resistance of a conductor is found by the x relation.

ρ : Resistance of the conductor

: Length of the conductor
A : Vertical cross-sectional area of the conductor
It can be seen that the resistance of a solid conductor varies depending
on the length of the wire, its cross-sectional area and the type of
conductor. Resistance is a derived and scalar quantity.
