Definition
The gerund is a verb form that functions as a noun in a sentence. It is
formed by adding the suffix "-ing" to the base form of the verb. Gerunds
themselves do not have multiple forms.

In English, the gerund is a non-finite verb form, meaning it does not change
to indicate tense, person, or number. Instead, it remains in its base form,
which is created by adding the suffix "-ing" to the base form of the verb.
