TASK DESCRIPTION

INSTALLATION OF LV SWITCHGEARS AND MOTOR CONTROL CENTRE MCC

SCOPE OF WORK
 This procedure will define the method to be used to ensure that the low voltage switchgear, main distribution
boards, free standing and wall mounted sub main distribution boards and control centre installation on site
assembly, final connection workmanship are acceptable, correct, safe and

CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATION


TASK DETAIL
 Unload the switch gears, MCC to the designated unloading area, Forklift or mobile crane to unload self
standing panel

FREE STANDING LV SWITCHGEAR/MOTOR CONTROL CENTRE


 Check the cable trenches and support ready for permanent installation of the said equipment
 Move the panels from the storage area to their designated room, Fully created switchgear or panels shipped
on a timber sub base shall be lifted under the sub base
 Uncrate, unpack and remove the switchgear from its timber base, care must be taken to ensure to protect the
panel from unnecessary scratches or dents on the panel.
 Move in the switchgear base using steel pipe rollers to its final location, care must be taken to ensure that the
panel does not over balance while being moved to its final location
 Align the panel horizontally and vertically
 Join switchgear section, joining of section must be done, the direct supervision of the manufacturer
representive and shall be done in accordance to the standards, ensure that the bus-bar are properly aligned
and shall be tight
 Secure the switchgear assembly and ensure that it is fixed properly on its base
 All associate work related to cable lugging and glunding to the MCC will commence
 After completing all associate works
 Remove all unused bolts, nuts, washer and clean the panel
 Panel side covers and doors shall be put back. Ensuring that it is properly tightened.
 Conduct insulation resistance test on the switchgear to ensure4 that all joints are properly insulated.
 Raise request for inspection for switchgear installation.
 Conduct on site testing of the equipment such as insulation test, for the switchgear, CT ratio test for
protection and relay setting in accordance to manufacturer recommendations and project specification test
shall be witnessed and signed off by the engineer.
 Wall mounted sub main distribution board, distribution board motor control panel.
 Check the location where in the panel boards are installed were accessible and ready for permanent work
installation.

 Mark the location of the panel on the wall. Wall mounted panels shall be installed 1800mm A.F.F.L from the
top of the panel.
 Install the uni-strut channel support on the wall, make sure that the support is rigidly and secured fixed.
 Fix the panel on the support, ensure that the panels are rigidly fixed in its supports and vertically and
horizontally aligned.
 Cable dressing and termination of the motor into the panel will commence.
 Remove unnecessary foreign material and unused bolts and protect with protective bonding.
 After completing all associated work related to the MCC/Panel raise a request for engineer to inspect
installation of MCC/Panel
 Test the MCC/Panel in accordance to specification, all testing will be carried out in the presence of the
Engineer, he will certify all test sheet

SITE CONDITION
 This task is to be carried out inside the MCC/Panel room. All equipment, material and documentation relevant
section of work shall be checked prior to the installation. Make sure that the plinth is completed and painted
ready for final installation of equipment; make sure that the MCC/Panel room is clear and free of debris and
foreign material. The room should be equipped with fire fighting equipment

 Electrocution

 Vibration injuries
 Noise induced hearing injuries
PREVENTING MEASURES

 All the workers shall be provided with safety equipments to all workers ensure that the same worker using
them in a properly way.
 Our staff has the responsibility to check workmen wearing proper PPE at site daily.
 If same worker will be found not wearing proper PPE, the supervisor will stop him and provide for those
immediately.
 The item issued to the worker must be periodically inspected and changed in case that they are found
damaged or they do not meet the specified conditions.
 Items of personal use shall be inspected regularly and maintained in serviceable and sanitary condition and
before reissuing to another person or returned to storage shall be cleaned, disinfected, inspected, and
repaired. Employees shall wear clothing suitable for weather and work conditions.

Personal Protection Equipment


1. Earing protection, Ear Muff or Plugs.
2. Helmet, Hard-Hat.
3. Hand Gloves (Leather or Cotton)
4. Dust Mask respiratory protection.
5. Glasses splinter proof.
6. Safety Shoes.
7. Summer / winter Clothing.
8. Equipment and Clothing for body protection

 All wiring and fitting of the relevant installation will be carried out whilst the circuits are dead
 Wearing and use of PPE such as ear defender
 Good housekeeping procedures, awareness of others on site

QUALITY CONTROL
 The site supervisor is to retain accountability for all tasks and processes
 Site Supervisor and Engineer to certify all suitably completed stages and processes
 Corrective action to be taken to ensure standard works are produced
