The workshop's discussion among the many stakeholders helped identify

conversation made the comments from the GBV actors more visible,
helping to better identify requirements, gaps, and programming choices.
Both responsible government officials and GBV activists from non-
governmental groups recognized the significance of the coordinated
action items required to make sure that all accountable parties cooperate
to promote GBV prevention and response.

One Day Quarterly Progress Review Meeting with HGSP partners (for 60
participants)
AAB shared the cost of organizing one day quarterly progress review
meeting with HGSP partners with BRAC. The review meeting took place
in December 2022, where both UNFPA representatives and 10
implementing partners of HGSP attended. In the review meeting all the
IPs presented their progress (program and finance), learning, challenges,
and way forward. The meeting discussion contributed to determine the
various learnings to accumulate with the planning of the following year.
The meeting resulted to enhance the coordination and collaboration
among partners to ensure integrated SRHR and GBV response services.
One of the key recommendations was to strengthen the referral

The meeting contributed to strengthening the collaboration with
committee members to ensure the multi-sectoral referral services.

One day orientation session for 1 OCC (Opening ) Teknaf Upazila Level on
Gender Based Violence and referral (Tentative 1800 participants)

The honourable Minister of Health and Family Welfare visited the newly
renovated OCC on 2nd October 2022 and encouraged the facility staff to
provide the necessary services in coordination with UH&FPO. It was an
excellent opportunity to inform the service of OCC to a wider community
during the presence of the Health Minister. Considering this, the budget of
the respective line was accelerated, and AAB shared the cost with the
arrangement of the whole Minister visit program of Teknaf Upazila Health
Complex, where around 2000 participants participated.

Training (2 batches; 20 participants in each batch) for case worker, case


manager, MHPSS officer on referral pathway (3 Days Training)

In Q2, 30 participants (19 case workers, 2 case managers, 3 MHPSS officers,


3 Project Officers and 3 Nurses) attended the three days long training on
referral pathways in two batches and the training was facilitated by the
training pool members of GBV Sub-Sector. The participants gathered
knowledge and skill on Survivor Centered Approach for referral, basics of
GBV response services, understanding on referral pathway, referral web,
effective referral pathway development, strategy of monitoring and
evaluation of referral services for GBV survivors. The training resulted in
enhanced confidence of participants to ensure safe referral to the survivors
following the proper referral pathways.

In the post-training assessment, there was a percentage increase of the

knowledge and understanding of participants, to 100% compared to 70%
during the pre-training assessment.

Development of visibility materials and hand-outs for capacity building events


All the planned visibility materials (Pen, Bag, Water Bottle, Masks, Note-
books) were developed and procured in Q3 following the branding and
visibility guidelines and used for all capacity building events.

Training for project staff and case worker on facilitation and communication (3
Days Training)
In Q2, a total of 39 participants (20 case workers, 2 case managers, and 3
project officers and 4 MHPSS, 3 Nurses and 7 core staff of the
organizations) participated in 2 batches of Facilitation and Communication
training. The training resulted in an increase of participants’ practical skills
on facilitation and communication especially for providing GBV response
services and community mobilization aiming to prevent GBV at the
community.

Pre-evaluation and post-training assessment were also conducted to help


gauge the perceived change in knowledge by the participants at the end
of the training.

In the post-training assessment, among 39 participants, 100% participants


developed their knowledge regarding applied skills and attributes of
effective communication. 76% participants had clear understanding on
basic knowledge of communication and 56% participants had clear
understanding on basic knowledge of facilitation.

Training on Anger Management and Self Care of GBV facilitating Staffs

In Q3, 2 batches training on Anger Management and Self Care of GBV
facilitating staff were conducted in 2022. In these training 50 staff, F-45 and
M-5 (facility staff, project staff and AAB Core staff) participated. Through
the training, staff members could understand about the functioning
features of Mind, Soul, Spirit and how these elements influence one
professional to deal with her/his anger, stress, and anxiety while providing
services especially to the GBV survivors. They also learnt about the
techniques and strategy for controlling their anger and found out the way
to cope with stress as well as how to take self-care for draining out the
distress that they gain from their day-to-day work, while dealing with GBV
survivors. In the post-training assessment 86% participants could identify
the difference between anger, wrath, arrogance etc. Around 75%
participants had a clear understanding on how to control anger and how to
take self-care.

Capacity building training of Community Clinic Health Staffs on GBV Basic


concept and referral (2 batch,20 participants in each batch)
Health coordination cell of Cox’s Bazar requested IPs of HGSP to provide
training to health care providers on gender-based violence (GBV) in district
coordination meeting. ActionAid Bangladesh responded to this request and
organized two batches of training on basic concepts of Gender Based
Violence (GBV) for Community Health Care Providers of four Upazilas of
Cox’s Bazar District in Q4.

Two batches training on basic concepts of GBV was held on 23-24 October
and 26-27 October 2022. Total 37 CHCP participated in those training,
among them 23 were female and 14 were male.

Participants had to sit for the pre-test to assess their primary knowledge
regarding the content of the training. At the end of the training,
participants participated in a post-test using the same questionnaire. This

pre and post-test helped to measure the existing and acquired knowledge
of the participants. The result of the pre and post-test has been given
below:

In the 1st batch, the knowledge and practice level of participants at pre-
test was as 21.1%, and post test result was as 72.56% and improvement
appeared as 51.29%. In the 2nd batch, the knowledge and practice level of
participants at pre-test was as 17.89%, and post test result was as 68.75%
and improvement appeared as 50.95%.
Training (1 batch; 35 participants) on GBVIMS and primero (5days) for case
worker, Case manager, MHPSS officer and other Case management staff of AAB
core

The planned training on GBVIMS and GBVIMS+ was organized in the month
of March 2022. A total of 29 participants attended the 5 days long training
Capacity Buidling including 21 case workers, 4 MHPSS officers, 2 case managers, 1 program
activities: Capacity coordinator and 1 MEAL officer. The trainers pool members from GBV sub-
development of WFS sector facilitated the sessions following the Global training module. The

GBVIMS tools; whereas 92% of participants became aware about the
information management system; 96% acquired knowledge on intake form
and coding and 35% of participants gathered knowledge on
GBVIMS+/Primero. In next refresher training, the emphasis will be given on
GBVIMS+/Primero.

Refresher Training on GBV/Basic (2 Days Training)


In Q3, 2 batches of refreshers training were organized where a total 58
participants (case workers, case managers, and project officers and MHPSS
officers, Nurses and AAB core staff of the organizations) participated in 2
batches . The training resulted in refreshing the learning of the participants
on Basic GBV. 100% of participants could refresh their knowledge and
learning on GBV basic.

Refresher Training on PSS


In Q3, a total of 57 participants (case workers, case managers, and project
officers and MHPSS officers, Nurses and AAB core staff of the
organizations) participated in 2 batches of refresher on PSS. The training
helped refresh the learning of the participants as well as to introduce with
new avenues of PSS services especially to GBV survivors. The participants
could recall the memories of the PSS activities and practically did role-play
and hands-on exercises. 100% participants could refresh their learning on
PSS.

Development of SBCC Materials on GBV prevention and response for capacity


building sessions
A total of 169 community people (Male: 64, Female: 105) participated in
12 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) at four Upazilas (Ukhiya, Teknaf,
Kutubdia and Moheshkhali) held in Q2. Through these FGDs the
participants expressed their opinions regarding the development of the
SBCC materials, the content of SBCC, the target population and possible

media for dissemination. Their suggestions and opinions will be reflected
in the final design of SBCC materials planned to be finalized in the 1st
quarter of 2033. Moreover, GoB (Health Coordination Cell) also suggested
collaborating with them for developing final materials of the SBCC. They
proposed it in a Health Coordination meeting of the Health and Gender
Support project and AAB will do that accordingly.

Monthly staff co-ordination meeting (starting from Q2)


Six (6) staff coordination meetings were organized with the participation of
the core project team members, like project officer, MHPSS officer, Nurse,
Case managers, case workers, program coordinator, MEAL officer, Officer
finance and admin, project manager and manager-women rights and
gender equity. In the meetings the monthly plan was reviewed and way out
of mitigating the challenges in project implementation.

Three quarterly Learning sharing meeting with project staff


Three quarterly learning sharing meetings with project staff were
organized (1 in Q3 and 2 in Q4). A total of 48 project staff participated in
the meeting and identified the key learning, challenges, and way forward
through joint discussion.

One training on caring for child survivor of GVB (3 Days Training)


In Q3, one (1) training on caring for child survivors of GBV was organized
where 31 facility staff (case workers, case managers and MHPSS officers)
participated. The training was delivered aligned with the global module of
CP sub-sector and the training pool members from GBV and Child
Protection sub-sector conducted the training. Through the training the case
workers are ready to deal with the child survivors of GBV. In the post-
training assessment around 72% of participants enhanced their knowledge
regarding applied skills on dealing with child survivors. 80% participants
had clear understanding on the case management with child survivors.

Refresher Training on GBV case management (2 Days Training)


A total of 43 participants (case workers, case managers, and MHPSS
officers, and AAB core staff of the organizations) participated in 2 batches
of a refresher on GBV Case Management held in Q4. The training helped to
refresh the learning and tools that they have been using for GBV case
management in OCC and WFS as well as to introduce with new global
practices. The participants could recall the memories of using case
management guidelines, principles and case management format and

of a child corner, survivors are getting multi sectoral services with
confidentiality and comfort.

Project Monitoring, reporting and Coordination

Manager, (Cox’s Bazar based staff) had made multiple visits to OCC for
