Calibration procedure of FlSmidth make Loss-In-Weight system

Responsibility : Section In-Charge

Tools/ Equipment: Multi meter, Tool box, Markin cloth, Cleaner and Lubricants.
PPEs : Safety goggles, hand gloves, helmet.
Equipment Name: FlSmidth Pfister

Method: System calibration

1. Take the standard clearance certificate from operation department.
2. After taken clearance first physically visit the site and inspection the area and make
sure hopper is fully empty, if not then start the LIW and clear the hopper.
3. After that clean the Hopper surrounding area, Load cell, Load cell JB, LCS JB, knife gate
valve SOV Jb.
4. Make sure that the storage hopper “Manual gate” is fully closed position.
5. Then we start the calibration procedure.
6. In LIW panel there is a HMI, in HMI there is Menu option, press menu option.
7. Then HMI show a new window, there we can select User name and password.
8. User Name: Admin
9. Password: [99999-mmdd{(10 or 20-(mm+dd)}] [if mm + dd = greater than 10 then subtract it
from 20 otherwise subtract it from 10]
● Suppose today date is 11th April then password is [99999-mmdd{20-(04+11)}] = (99999-
04115)= 95884
● Password is “95884”
10. After enter password press Login button, on successful login menu button gets enabled and
Menu access given as per user type.
11. Now press Maintenance button, under maintenance button there is button “Loadcell 1
calibration”.
12. Press this button.
13. Then display will show this screen:
14. In this there is a tag “Input value” means the weight of hopper and also showing current
loadcell output (in mV).
15. “Check weight” means standard weight for calibration which we put in hopper for calibration.
16. Make sure hopper is empty.
17. Then press “Save as Zero” to set the zero point of the system.
18. Then “Input value” is showing zero if not then again press “Save as Zero”.
19. Place the standard weight on hoper and distributed the weight properly on hopper.
20. After placing weight click on “Save as Span” to set the Span of the system.
21. The load should now correspond to the check weight.
22. Then compare both display weight on HMI and physical weight on hopper are same or not.
23. Calibration of LIW hopper is over.

Method: Analog Input calibration

1. First follow above mention Steps 7 to Steps 10.

2. Now press Maintenance button, under maintenance button there is button “AIO 1
Calibration”.
3. Use certified and calibrated 4-20 mA source, connected at input terminal “X12 -2 AI(+) and X12-
3 AI(-)” and adjust 4 mA current and press “save as Zero”.
4. Then adjust 20 mA current at input and press “Save as Span”.
5. Internal ADC counts will be displayed.
6. Analog input calibration is over.
