Marking Scheme

All courses (unless otherwise specified) shall consist of two components of

assessment.

1) Continuous Assessments- CA1 and CA2 shall consist of 30% of marks

2) External Examination or final assessment- shall consist of the other 70% of the
marks in a course.

A student is required to secure at least 40% in each of these two components (as an
aggregate of CA1 & CA2, and also in the external examination) individually to
complete the course successfully and earn the corresponding credits.

Continuous Assessment

1. Once the Roll No. is generated, Students may appear for both CA1, CA2, and for
external examination.

2. In each subject, a combined percentage of 40% is required to be scored in the

Continuous Assessments (i.e., CA1 and CA2).Upon completion of the Continuous
Assessments the Student qualifies to appear for the External Examination for the
particular subject. If the combined percentage of 40% (i.e., 12 out of 30) is not
achieved; Students will be eligible for a second attempt post 72 hours from the
date of appearing of the 2nd Internal Assessment in the given subject.

3. In the above situation, the student will be given a chance to retake one of the
internals. As soon as the student retakes any of the IA, the system would publish
the new score for the attempted one and for the 2nd IA the system would reflect the
marks scored in the previous attempt.

4. If a student fails to secure the pass marks (total i.e. 12 out of 30) even after
reattempting one of the Internals then the same pattern of reactivation post 72
hours will be repeated.

5.Each Continuous Assessment contains 15 objectives/multiple-choice based questions

for which the maximum time given is 25 minutes.

6. The scores obtained will automatically be displayed upon submission of the

Continuous Assessment.

7. Students are required to complete the continuous assessment within the time
period allotted to a particular assessment. If a student fails to attempt the same
within the time period, the exam will be automatically submitted, and the result of
the same will be displayed on the examination page.

8. Please note if a student gets disconnected while giving the continuous

assessment and does not re-connect within the allotted time, the time will not stop
and the questions attempted till then will be considered final for the evaluation.
The result of the same will accordingly be displayed on the examination page.

9. Students are suggested not to attempt any Continuous Assessment in Incognito

Mode/Private Window.

External Examination

1.The external examination comprises both objective and subjective type questions.
A. There are 40 objective-type questions of 1 mark each.

B. There are 12 subjective type questions of 5 marks each out of which students are
required to attempt 6 questions as per the number of questions mentioned in each
type.

For better understanding please refer to the following example:

Type 4- Answer any 1 of the following, Students have to attempt 1 question from the
set of (4.1, 4.2. 4.3.....)

Type 5- Answer any 2 of the following, Students have to attempt 2 questions from
the set of (5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4....)

Total duration of the examination will be 180 minutes (including objective and
subjective paper).

4. The examination once booked cannot be cancelled/rescheduled. In case, the

Student is unable to take the examination as per the schedule, he/she will be able
to reschedule it after 24 hours from its scheduled time.

5. If the Student is unable to appear for the examination on the scheduled time,
he/she shall be marked ABSENT for that examination, and the same can be rescheduled
by paying the rescheduling fees if the Student has already used the free attempts.

6. Please note, if it is observed that the student is involved in any kind of

malpractice while appearing for the external examination, the provision of the
remaining free attempt, in such a situation, for the subject will be cancelled by
the examination team.

7.Similarly, students may reappear for the final examination in case of securing a
fail grade anytime from the month following the month in which the result is
declared.

Note - The University provides two external examination attempts/bookings of a

subject free of cost. In case, the Student consumes both the attempts/bookings due
to any reason not under the control of the University, the third and the following
attempts become chargeable at a certain cost.
