SUMMARY
Philip’s passion for teaching stemmed from when he was a kid, seeing
his mother teach her students fueled his determination to be like her
someday. However, it wouldn’t go as smoothly as he thought it would be.
Faced with one problem after another, and exposed to the ugly truth of the
education system, can Philip win over his struggles, or would he succumb to
them helplessly? This story will teach us how to value those who sacrifice
themselves to give us a better future, it will teach us the importance of
friendship, and how the bonds we create throughout our journey will become
our salvation in times of need. And finally, leave a valuable lesson about
repentance and forgiveness. Follow Phillip throughout his eventful journey
as an educator of our country, and how he overcomes hardships in life.

[SCENE 1] - House
*radio playing news

PHILIP: Ma, mauuna na ho ako. (goes out the front door and puts on his
shoes) *radio continues to play at the distance
FELICIA: Sige na, isara mo yang pintuan paglabas mo. (Shouts from the
inside of the house)

The scene shifts from the house to school.

[SCENE 2] – First Day of School

*noisy background – students chattering

PHILIP stands in front of the doorway and murmurs to himself. “Kaya mo

toh.” He takes a deep breath, smiles and opens the door.

PHILIP enters the classroom, and silence ensues. He stands in front of the
desk. “Good morning students, I’m. Philip Villanel, your new adviser for
the school year 2023-2024. You can call me Sir Phil for short, wag kayong
mahiya na lumapit sakin pag may kailangan kayo, understood? So to start,
why don’t we have a short introduction, para naman mas makilala ko kayo g
konti.

PHILIP: Well, it’s nice meeting you everyone. So, to start our lesson,
please open your books in page 7. We will be discussing the *sounds that
fades away.

The scene shifts back to PHILIP going back to the house.

Monologue: “Akala ko nung una, madali lang ang pagiging guro, lalo na’t
naabot ko na yung pangarap kong trabaho. Pero…” (scene on going)

[Scene 3] – shifting scenes *no dialogue – HOUSE AND SCHOOL

At the dining table, Philips works with his laptop. (Time clock: 7 pm)
Scene Shift, morning he discusses in front of the class, the class being
rowdy and unorganized.
Scene Shift, Philip is working on his lesson plan, and dining (Time clock:
9 pm]
Scene Shift, Philip sees his student fighting in the hallway
Scene shift, Philip is checking exam papers, and dining (Time clock: 12 pm
midnight)
*end of shifting scenes

[SCENE 4]- SCHOOL

Next scene to the hallway, Philip is talking with Principal Belinda.

Principal Belinda: “Philip, you’re aware naman na magkakaroon tayo ng

bisita galing sa DepEd, dba? This is a private school, and we should upheld
our standards! Paki-disiplina naman ang mga estudyante mo. Sila ang sakit
ng ulo dito sa school eh. May mga hindi naka-uniform, walang id, late
pumasok, at ang gugulo sa hallway. As their adviser, you should be
responsible to them and their actions.”

Philip: “Pasensya na po ma’am. Pagsasabihan ko na lang po sila.”

[SCENE 5] – HOUSE
The scene shifts back to the house.

Philip opens the door and is greeted by his mother.

Felicia: Oh, gabi na ah. (nakahawak ng kape) Anyare sayo?

Philip: Wala po, magpapahinga lang ako.
Felicia: Kumain ka muna bago ka matulog. May pagkain jan sa mesa.

Philip doesn’t answer back and continues to walk inside. His mother watched
his back worriedly. Felicia suddenly coughs blood in a white handkerchief
*cuts scene*

[SCENE 6] - SCHOOL
In the faculty room, telephone rings, Alice picks up the phone.

Alice: Hello, good morning po… Ah, si Sir Philip po ba? Wala po siya dito
sa office eh, nagkaklase po ata siya. Ano pong kailangan nila?

Alice face turns serious. Then the phone drops from her hand.

[SCENE 7] - SCHOOL
While Philip is discussing in front of class when Alice suddenly knocks in
the classroom. Philip goes outside to Alice.
Alice: “Phil, Phil!”
Philip: “Bakit?”
Alice: “May nangyari kay Tita Felicia. Kasusugod lang sa kanya sa hospital
kanina. Nakita daw nila na wala siyang malay sa loob ng bahay.”

Philip doesn’t answer and stays still for a moment. Philip rushes to the
hospital.

[SCENE 7] – COLLEGE / HOSPITAL

Hospital Hallway *no dialogue

The doctor approaches Philip and tells him something.

[Scene 8] – HOUSE
Philip goes back to the house to the dining table, thinking back to the
word of the doctor yesterday.
Doctor Kathleen (voice only): “According to the results of the tests we
conducted to your mother, nag-positive po siya for Stage 1 cancer. We have
to start the treatment immediately para maagapan…”
Philip: Aabutin ho ng magkano yung gagastusin.”
Doc Kath: For meds and regular check-ups at consultation, baka umabot ng
mahigit sa …
Philip then glances back at the dining table and sees the food his mother
prepared for him on the table. *sees his favorite food…

Flashback scene:
Philip: Wow, ang bango. Ang sarap naman ng amoy niyan ma. Ano hong niluto
niyo?
Felicia: Ayan oh, *food* paborito mo
Philip: Naks naman. Wait, kukuha po ako ng plato’t kutsara.
Felicia: Nkapag decide ka na ba kung ano kukunin mo sa college?
Philip: Balak ko po sanang mag-educ ma, gusto kong magturo.
Felicia: Eh, kung yan ang gusto mo, ano pa bang magagawa ko. Tsaka kahit
ano naman piliin mo eh susuportahan kita.
Philip: Thank you ma, love na love po talaga kita.
Felicia: Oh sige kumain ka garod. Di pwedeng nagugutom ang future teacher
natin.
Young Philip: Talaga, ipapasa ko ho yung board exam para sa inyo

End of flashback scene*

Philip becomes sad, and cries. Then the camera shifts to the refrigerator
…

[SCENE 9] – SCHOOL
1 week later…

Students noticed that their adviser wasn’t coming to school anymore. One
student goes to the faculty and asks about him.

Student: Ma’am Alice, si sir Philip po?

Alice: Hindi niyo ba nabalitaan?
Student: Ma’am wala na ho sir?
Alice: Binatukan yung estudyante* Eto talaga, may gana ka pang mamilosopo
eh noh.
Student: Di joke lang maam, pero ano po ba talaga nangyari?
Alice sighs and explains, students becomes silent at the sudden news.

[SCENE 10] – HOUSE

Alice walks up to the door of the house of Philip.

Alice: Philip, Philip. (Knocks first, then opens the door. Sees the house
in a mess and sees Philip in a sorry state.)

In the dining room…

Philip: Alice, masama ba akong tao?

Alice: Philip…
Philip: anong bang ginawa kong mali? Deserve ko bang maparusahan ng ganito?
Alice: Alam kong mahirap yung sitwasyon na pinagdadaanan mo ngayon, pero
sana wag kang mawalan ng pag-asa, magiging okay lang ang lahat. (holds his
hand and smiles.
Philip: Salamat.

[SCENE 11] HOSPITAL

Philip goes back to the hospital.

Doc Kath: Oh, Sir Philip, you’re back. Good news, pwede na nating umpisahan
ang treatment ni Ma’am Felicia since the balance has already been settled.
Philip: Po?
Doc Kath: Yes, may pumunta dito kanina para bayaran yung medical bills,
they said they know you. Well, I’m gonna go first, I’ll update you na lang.

[SCENE 12] SCHOOL

Next day
School scene…
Philip goes back to school and opens the classroom door.

Philip: Una sa lahat, gusto kong magpasalamat. Narinig ko yung mga ginawa
niyo kay Alice. I’m very thankful for that. Di ko talaga in-expect na ganun
yung gagawin niyo. Salamat talaga

Flashback scene
Students donates money and asks money for the treatment to help sir Philip.

Student: Wala ho yun sir,

[SCENE 13] - SCHOOL

Graduation day

Students gets their awards and certificates

 As the student get each of their award, a small flashback scene comes up
where Philip helps them in their problems in school.
Then the valedictorian takes the podium and gives a heartfelt and warm
speech to Philip filled with gratitude.
Philip stands at the end of the stage, smiling.

[SCENE 14] - HOUSE

Philip combs his hair, getting ready to school. Then his eyes fall down his
uniform before.
*radio playing like before*

PHILIP: Ma, pupunta na ho ako, yung gamut niyo po wag niyo kalimutan, nasa
mesa ho yun. (ties his shoes)
FELICIA: *stops for a moment, looking at his son* Sige na, mag-ingat ka ha.
(goes to his back and pats his shoulders)

Philip smiles to his mother.

[SCENE 15] – First Day of School
