Kelly hemostatic forceps are used to clamp blood vessels and hold heavy tissues in
place.
Right angle forceps are commonly used for working in obscured surgical sites. In
this surgery, this is used to crush the tissue at the appendicular base.
Straight Kocher forceps is used to crush the stump of the appendix as well. It may
be picked up by the surgeon to hold ribs during rib resection.
Kelly hemostatic forceps are used for clamping large blood vessels or manipulating
heavy tissue.
A Babcock is used to clamp the appendix that is then pulled within the trocar port.
Allis forceps are used to firmly grasping dense tissue during surgery. Teeth curve
to the inside and are designed to help decrease general pressure applied to the area.
Yankauer Suction Tube has a firm suction tip with a large opening surrounded by a
bulbous head that allows effective suction without damaging the tissues.
Kidney basin is a shallow basin with a kidney-shaped base and sloping walls used
in medical and surgical wards to receive soiled dressings and other medical waste.
The blade holder holds the blade in place. Keeping the sharp edge in a down
position helps prevent the surgical team from accidental injury caused by reaching
their arms or hands across a sharp blade.
Metzenbaum scissors or dissecting scissors are primarily used in surgery to cut
tissue and suture material. The long handles of Metzenbaum scissors permits to
work in deep tissues
Curved Mayo scissors allow deeper penetration into they wound than the type with
straight blades. The curved style of scissors used to cut thick tissues.
Straight Mayo scissors are designed for cutting body tissue near the surface of a
wound. They are also referred to as “suture scissors” as they are used for cutting
sutures.
Toothed Forceps are designed for grasp tissues in various surgical procedures. This
instrument has teeth for firmly holding a tissue.
Smooth Adson forceps are used for handling delicate tissue. They are regularly
used in exploratory surgery for gently moving tissue or for holding it during the
suturing process.
The Adson Forceps is a thumb forceps which is also called a surgical tweezer. The
forceps are manufactured from stainless steel and used to grasp, hold, and move
tissue.
Sponge Forceps is used to grasp and hold sponges and swabs during surgical
procedures and examinations. It allows surgeons and physicians to place and
conveniently hold dressings in place.
Non-toothed forceps used for fine handling of tissue and traction during dissection.
Debakey forceps are a type of atraumatic tissue forceps used in vascular
procedures to avoid tissue damage during manipulation.
Freer Skin hook is designed to pull back wound edges and retract the mucosal
tissues to view the underlying tissues.
Army navy retractor is handheld with broad blades, used to expose surface layers
of skin.
The Senn Retractor is a handheld, double-ended retractor used to retract primarily
surface tissue.
The Richardson Retractor is used to expose, retract, or push tissues, organs,
muscles, and bones during surgeries. This hand-held instrument is a single-ended
retractor that comes with a right-angle blade.
Mayo Hegar Needle Holder is used to drive curved needles during surgeries. It has
a broader jaw with a rounded tip. These needle holders have straight and cross-
serrated inserts which provide greater precision during the suturing process.
The surgical needle allows the placement of the suture within the tissue, carrying
the material through with minimal residual trauma.
The suture helps in holding body tissues together after a surgery or an injury.
