Task One

1. You can define genre in writing by the overall meaning or topic of the writing. What is
the writing centered around? What are they trying to convey or convince? This will help
you discover the genre. Satisfying a reader's expectation in genre is important to writing
for genre as well, this makes it easier to start a writing when you have an idea of what is
normal for that genre. These moves are to carry out the additional traits of what is
expected for genre. It helps to look at multiple texts from a certain genre to really
understand how to write and convey what you are saying.
2. By looking for patterns across the texts to understand what is certain in every writing for
the genre and what is less likely to be said. Think critically about what parts these
patterns have in common writings of the genre. Each sentence is working to accomplish a
specific goal, if multiple sentences are working for the same goal, then they are all a
single move. What are the patterns and what is being said in different ways? These all
help you determine the specific genre.
3. Genre knowledge provides a layout on where to start your writing and who you are trying
to appeal too. This is important for every piece of writing you write because you cannot
convey your point if you do not make sense to your readers, especially in a genre-based
environment. Even something not focused on the foundations still should be researched
for its natural narratives in their genre. Thus, providing an idea and place to start.
Task Two
Purpose and Audience
1. Writers write this genre to convey a story to readers about what happened from a certain
statement and how it affected other things. They write to inform and show multiple points
of view. Readers read it for the additional information it provides so they can see the
situation entirely.
2. This genre serves a purpose of knowing and keeping up with the things said online and
how they affected other people's lives.
Structural Patterns
1. These sentence types are full of simple sentences, because the writer is clearly stating
what happened in the story and not using any personal words or adjectives. With active
sentences stating the actions within these people did. They use these to make a very clear-
cut story and for the most well thought out understanding of the story.
2. This is a simple vocabulary that helps with the informing since it must be delivered to
multiple audiences and understood in a wide variety of ways.
3. The text is organized in short sentences and sections that explain what the pictures or
saying or the direct statements made by a person.
4. There are pictures with certain tweets and simple vocabulary, and font used. Once again
to make it easier to appeal to readers. They serve the purpose of informing readers of
such incidents in an easy and quick read.
Other general questions to consider
1. People who are in the story and the consumers who are reading and making their own
opinions on it.
2. They use photographic evidence and quotes from the people talked about to prove some
sort of motive of why it happened. They try to stay unbiased, but they have a couple of
testimonies from Anya and none from Bezos.
