PHOTOSYNTHESIS

OBJECTIVES:
1. To test the presence of CO2 with limewater
2. To compare CO2 content in the presence and absence of photosynthesis

PROCEDURES:
1. Watch and observe the presented experiment from the given link:

GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. What do you think is happening in the bottle with leaves?

I think that the leaves performed photosynthesis when they were exposed to sunlight,
that’s why the water looked clear.

2. What is the primary role of the leaves on the second performed experiment?

To cleanse the bottle that had CO2 and perform photosynthesis.

3. If the leaves were left in the bottle for a week, what could be the appearance of the
limewater?

I think that it would still look clear since the bottle is tightly sealed and that the leaves
already performed photosynthesis.

4. What would happen if the bottle with leaves were not exposed to direct sunlight?

The leaves cannot perform photosynthesis.

GOING FURTHER:
What will happen to the world's atmospheric oxygen levels if we continue to cut down
forests and replace them with buildings?

Global warming will only get worse and now that our polar ice caps are melting, I think that
we humans should really change our ways of living.
