Task 1:

The line graph compares seven regions in term of income by top 1% populations
of each from 1975 to 2010.

It is clear that the proportion of income of the top 1% in the US, the UK, Canada
and Germany fluctuated noticeably, while the figures for three other countries
remained essentially unchanged.

Firstly,  As observed the US’s figure stayed on fourth, at nearly 8% in 1975,


while after downturns three times in 1990, 2000 and 2005, it was surpassed other
six countries and stayed on top with over 19%. On the other hand, Similarly,
the UK and Canada’s figures followed the similar pattern, ended at the same
point was  at 13%. Germany started at the highest position in 1975 but hit the
lowest point in 2005 then bounced back, ended at the fourth place with over
12%

Secondly, In terms of less significant changes over the course, Japan, France
and Italy has similar changes until 2005 before Japan and Italy were slightly
decreased and were relative similar over 9%, whereas France fell to around 8% in
2010.  In terms of less significant changes over the course, Japan, France
and Italy had similar variations until 2005. From this year onwards, while Japan
and Italy saw slight changes and finished at about 9%, France witnessed a greater
fall, to well below 9%.
