Personal Profile:
A final year student of the Bachelor of Science (Hons)in Education (Design Graphics and
Construction) in Atlantic Technological University Galway/Connemara. Throughout college, I have
gained excellent skills in lesson planning, critical reflections, and classroom management. I also have
completed 3 blocks of school placement teaching both junior and senior cycle students which has
enhanced my skills in lesson planning, communication, virtual learning platforms and creativity. As a
newly qualified teacher I also aim to engage in extracurricular activities wherever possible to
participate with all aspects of school life. Seeking an opportunity as a qualified post-primary teacher
to teach Constructions Studies to senior cycle standard.

Teaching Experience:
October 2023-December 2023: Portlaoise College.
Role: Teacher Placement
Responsibilities:
• Developed my teaching strategies over an eleven-week block.
• 11-week placement in Year 4 of degree programme.
• Subjects taught included Construction Studies to 5th and Ty students, Graphics to 2nd Year
students, and Wood Technology to 1st Year students.
• Assisted with extra-curricular activities including training the 3rd year rugby team.

Projects:
The Application of Formative Assessment, Teaching and Assessment Strategies to the Subject
of Design Communication Graphics in Second Level Education.
As part of our final year dissertation, I examined the application of formative assessment in a
graphics setting. This involved, researching the advantages and disadvantages of different teaching
methods, and analysing the benefits of ulterior methodologies. I prepared a written dissertation on
my topic.

Third Year, Group Project


The aim of this project was to prepare a lesson plan for a junior cycle class for Construction Studies.
We devised a series of learning objective for the class, mapped out the content of the class to the
textbook, prepared a set of slides and incorporated two student activities into the plan to
consolidate the learning. The project involved the use of word and PowerPoint.

Key Skills:
• Teamwork: Developed my ability to work as part of a team on school placement, other work
experience and on group assignments in college.
• Teaching Methodologies: In-depth knowledge of teaching methodologies, possess strong
leadership skills in the classroom and an awareness of current challenges in education.
• Technical: Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, SolidWorks, Auto Cad, Laser
cutter, 3D printing, Inventor, Fusion, and Google Classroom.
• Time Management: Developed from completing project assignments on time, meeting
deadlines.
• Problem Solving: Having the ability to troubleshoot problems in a logical way.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for bagging orders and ensuring that the customers get the correct Ice.
• Working with a team that needs to be manage and ensure all work is done correctly.
• This position has developed my organisation skills and management skills by dealing with
fellow workers and with customers.
